And if you ain't got/can't find any, then your SOL cause they don't exist outside Military stores in Germany.
Kinda like Taco Bell.
good luck! dont think you'll find one unless you're tight w/ the military.

I think they are actually "forbidden" here due to the use of genetically modified ingredients.
huh? what's geneticallymodified? doesnt it have to be an organic substance to be genetically modified? last i checked it was all mainly chemicals

(mars bar, snickers, etc all would be 'modified' too then...

No - I think there is one ingredient in butterfinger that is modified. Apparently there is a little sign on american products that indicates if gen. mod. ingredients are used - none of my friends in the states seem too concerned about it though.

I met a german girl here and she asked if I could get a hold of some butterfingers for her father. He grew up in the 50s and use to get them all the time from military personel when he was a kid. I told her well maybe but I have never tried...does that make me a jerk beacause I forgot?
no. well, do you hang out w/ her all the time? then perhaps (but still no). if you rarely see her or talk to her then defo not and dont worry about it!
I know where to find them costing about 1.09!
are you going to share your info my dear Carm?

(well i think i know where you're thinking... so i guess it'd be better to say- want to help a few of us out?!)

I have seen them in shops, just trying to remember where! I
think I saw them in "Hertie" at
Hauptbahnhof in the American section (close to where they sell wine). I'm sure I have seen them in a couple of large supermarkets in the Fürstenfeldbruck area as well.
Generally checkout the international section in most of the large supermarkets and you should come across them.
Ps. I've never tried them myself, I just remember seeing them.

I think I can find'em tomorrow, not positive, though...and I may be drinking cause this cold is hell (my cold, not the cold)
They are avail at - most Mini Mal's in the american section,
Käfer on Prinzregenten,
Karstadt, and Hertie! I paid 1.09 for one at the MiniMal by me!

I have never seen BF's at
Hertie at Hbf. Recees PB Cups yes, but not BF's.. And if they truly are banned in DE then you won't find'em in any German store..
The only way your going to get some is from the US Military stores on base, as they don't have to follow DE/EU bans if they don't want to.

Butterfingers aren't banned but they use corn syrup from GM corn. BFD. EU laws now require labelling if GM ingredients are used and I expect Butterfingers don't have the label. They were never in Germany and the candy market is pretty damned tough. Tastes across borders vary drastically and the Butterfinger is not only unfamiliar to German palettes, it's too sweet and "weird".
If the bet's worth more than €40 I could FedEx you a couple.

You know the best Kit-Kat bar I ever had was not made in the U.S. It was made in europe and I bought it in Cuba. It is sad how in america we change good things.

Try
Karstadt, as I think has been mentioned, and I think I used to see them at Blockbuster. Haven't been there in years, though.

Don't know how they were called then..it was something with butter..but they were sold in my childhood in Mönchengladbach everywhere - and I read an article that since it had to be claimed that they were made with modified ingredients its hard to find them. I liked them..

Yeah - I can't find anything about them being banned, just about the use of genetically modified corn in them.
Fine if that's BFD to BD, I don't think GM (genetically modified and not
Günther Murphys) food will strike me dead if I eat it, but I classify it along with artificial colorings, some E preservatives, and artificial sweeteners - rather avoid it and not eat it when pregnant, feed it to children etc. The body has enough stress to deal with as it is (especially with the crap in cheaper wines

ha ha )

If the bet is €15+ I will split the money with you and give you one of mine!
If you know anyone that has a daughter at MIS in Starnberg and in the girl scouts, they are selling GIRL SCOUT COOKIES right now for 3 Euro! Thin Mints were already gone, but that was ok...

Hertie has them, I think they look grim. Why eat those when you can have Reese's Peanut Butter Cups?

I suggest reading the other posts before posting next time because it appears they are in Germany and Munich according to people who've bought them.
However at 1.09 euros a bar I suggest having your mom go to Costco or Sam's club buying a box that makes them 25 cents a bar and mailing them snail mail...would end up at about 75 cents (US)/ bar and you wouldn't have to worry about finding them.

I found butterfingers at some random gas station somewhere outside of munich...I'll ask my bf if he remembers where it was. And thatw as pretty much the only place I've EVER seen butterfingers here so I was really surprised when I saw them at this east bumblefuck gas station.
But if ur gf is craving butterfingers I think 'wunderbars' are pretty similar..don't remember tho.
Wunderbars are chewier and soft, and aren't Butterfingers like really crunchy and chewy?
Eleanor Rigby
Feb 3 2006, 2:46 pm
Yeah Wunderbar has caramel and possibly even peanut butter in it. Butter finger is hard peanut butter brittle (I think).
