Im looking for people to participate in a Murder Mystery. This will be an evenings entertainment and not a short stint. I will try and book an area in a bar so we can have access to drinks while we play. The game if for 20 people in total. Each person will play out a role in a 1920's bar. You will turn up and have a bit of time to mingle with eachother to learn the charachters names and whos who, then the murder will be discovered and the game will begin. A brief description is as follows
"Don Wannabe is hosting a grand opening celebration for his new speakeasy The Four Deuces and you are invited to attend. The Four Deuces is a lavish joint serving booze and music in the front. In the back is the gambling hall and upstairs is a very high class and exclusive brothel. The cream and not so cream of society will be here. With gangsters, hit men, politicians, opera singers, molls and many other interesting guests in attendance there are sure to be a lot of big deals being made here tonight."
dressing up is optional but each person will have to play a role for the eving and each person will have a goal in which they must try to achieve by the end of the game through any means they can! The game can go many ways depending on your decisions made. This is a great evenings entertainment and a good way to meet poeple. if you are interested then please P.M me and i will select the final 20 people when i have a venue booked.
There will be a small fee of less than 2 euros to cover the cost of the script. the venue should be free so no costs will be there either i dont think but i will let you know. Also i ask thet you be either a native english speaker or have a VERY good understanding of the language as people who are non native speakers may have trouble understaing words used in a 1920's theme. Dates and things will be sorted soon, i just want to see how many people will be interested.
sound good?

So it is like Cluedo but in a bar?
And we have to remember the names of 20 people in one eveningß Christ, I cannot remember the names of everyone I work with and I have been working with them for 2 years!

I would love to participate in this!
But I cannot confirm fully until a date is picked. If it is before end of March, weekends are preferable for me.
how fun!

Roles are asigned to you. probably good to give them to you only a day before though. i want people to not chare info on who they are or anything til the night. It has to be kept quiet or the game will be spoiled. Priority goes to those who speak native english really. as unfair as it sounds its for the best with these sorts of scripts and the words and situations that arise. The rest is just down to first come first served i suppose.
Lets make the date in march some time.

Count me in, even if my mother-tongue is American. Scogs as well, if it's on a weekend. I want to try this kind of thing just once to see if it's what it's cracked up to be.

Feb 2 2006, 2:12 pm
sounds like people are interested. I will reply to your P.M's this evening when i get back from work. I will let you know a date hopefully by wednesday next week. I just need to find a suitable venue and see when i can get it. Friday and Saturday night is unlikely because booking somewhere for one of those nights is probably not going to happen but would people be happy with a sunday night if it came to it?

If it's not March 26th, yes, Sundays are okay.

Feb 2 2006, 2:15 pm
It will probably be in the middle of march so as to not conflict with comedy club or anything else. But as i say its a matter of when i can get the venue for. I will let you know asap.
The PM was for those that are really keen to do it. only pm after everything is set though because im using the pm's to see who definately wants to do this as i will need to get scripts out to you etc. this is not like a normal meetup.

more of those from the gentlemen side of this forum need to show some interest.
on a side note - can we put preferences of what we want our roles to be or is that too much work for you?
I really want to be a gangster for a day. That would be sweet.

he's a newbie, elf
he already organised a newbie bash at
The Arc, which seems to have gone quite well (I couldn't make it)
I like people who organise things, anyway - means I don't have to

Feasty, excellent idea by the way.
I don't think that dressing up should be optional. Perhaps if you hand out the roles a week or so in advance it will give people time to organise costumes.

Feb 2 2006, 3:24 pm
Yeah, a little prep time would be good. Don't have to have the full character, motive, etc, just an idea.

Feb 2 2006, 3:25 pm
Ok for the roles what ill do is put them to a name. i will then contact you and tell you the charachter type your playing with enough info for you to get a costume. i just dont wanna hand out the scripts to maybe a day before as i dont want people sharing info until the night. its better that way as people get tempted to say things.
sound fair?
