Well if i'm fasting for the devil, surely it's jesus I'll be tempted by? I'll have to avoid churches in case i get a sudden urge to go in.
If you feel the temptation is too strong, just sms me and we'll organise a little "lead laura_k astray" sesh, nicely

Don't want you going all christian on us, that would never do.

Give the guy his due, it's Breughel the Elder,
The Fight Between Carnival and Lent (Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum).
My sis-in-law made a great oven veggie dish last Sunday: slice green asparagus in bite size pieces, slice some red onions, slice some portobello mushrooms, add tarragon, salt, pepper and butter and shove in the oven at 140°C for 25 mins (in a baking pan, of course).
New ones for me this week are brussel sprouts ( i like them just never made them at home). I'm just going to roast them. Also does anyone know what "jicama" is in German? Leo gave me no love on that one.

Gods, I love brussel sprouts roasted with olive oil and balsamico.

You found jicama here? Where oh where?!
Oh hey sorry didn't see the above posst. Saan, no, I didn't find jicama in Munich - I had something at the office which i was told was kohl rabe ( i thought that was just cabbage) but reminded me of jicama. Any clues what it could've been? Another brussel sprouts recipe: Wash sprouts, remove any damaged outer leaves, chop up very fine. Toss sprouts with olive oil, freshly grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to taste. No quantities just eyeball it to your liking. No cooking involved, very easy and like a mayo free coleslaw.

Yeah, the bulb part of Kohlrabi does taste reminiscent of jicama...but I haven't tried using it like jicama yet.
