Saturday night turned into a bit of a mission, so I thought I'd share it with you.
Started at 8pm in "Zoozie'z". Had a couple of beers & a pizza with Paul & Paul. This is a nice bar, but I have to say, I hate the beer. It's Ayinger and I simply don't like it.
Passed by a bar called "The Big Horn". A quick glance in the window at a studded, leather-clad member of the Village People told us it wouldn't be out cup of tea. Although the name had already done that. Moved on from there and stopped into a bar called "Seitensprung" on Holzstrasse. Nothing special here. The little rainbow sticker on the door told it's tale, so we had one Spaten and moved onwards.
Next stop was "Padres" on Blumenstrasse. The place was heaving (which doesn't take much). Got a little plot about half way down the bar. I like this place because no matter what happens, you're certainly not going to be able to just sit at a table in isolation from everyone else. The area around the bar is so tight, you'll certainly get to meet people. Only thing I don't like is that they don't serve Helles, only Pils. I've no objection to Pils per se, it's the small glasses which annoy me.
Wandering along Sendlingerstr we came across a place which was having it's opening night. "Bar Capalbio" is run by a fairly young Italian bloke and most of the people there seemed to be of that persuasion also. At ground level most of the space is taken up by the bar, and then downstairs are a couple more sections. Have to wait and see if this place takes off or not.
Next stop was "Harpers & Queens" further along Sendlingerstr. This is where Paul-II, introduced a slightly more schicky-micky tone into the evenings proceedings. Beautiful people, good background music, etc, etc. It's a nice enough place, more suited to cocktails than what we were doing. So we settled for a couple of bottles of Heineken.
Over the road and on a side-street we found Doro's. Now this was more like it. It'd be kinda like the Kilian's of Greece. Nicely laid out bar with lots of gorgeous girls around. And they're much more friendly and approachable than in most places. No idea what beer was on the cards as we switched to vodka redbulls for a break. Worth a visit.
Then round the corner to Hiscox on Oberangerstr, another suggestion from Paul-II who was looking exceeding worse for wear at this stage. Had me a rather large rum and coke. Nice place, but the service was brutally slow. I like it for the big comfy armchairs.
Anyway, it'd be nice to think that after all that we did the sensible thing and headed home to sleep. So just maybe that's what did happen...
