I'll give you a BOOT in the ass (notice the word ass not arse) you limey bastard... wink.gif
Essex English vs. Texas English...talk about the blind leading the blind...

Would appreciate the write-ups...I won't be around for a couple of weeks though as I am stuck in Walldorf.

They had two Z's at the dealership, orange/gold and blue. In person, the orange/gold looked great but the blue didn't do it for me (**phew!**). Even the gf was very impressed and she doesn't even like sports cars for some inexplicable reason...(Note to self: NEVER cruise around with the gf in the Z...defeats purpose tongue.gif ) It also had the RAYS wheels.

I've looked at the RX-8 as well and like it a lot but when you add in all the extras like the larger motor etc, it ain't that much cheaper. It's got more space to be sure but only children could ride comfortably in the back provided they're not porky in which case even that wouldn't even work. You still can't carry much around in it. Even with the RX-8, i'd still need a second car. (Can see the bumper sticker now on the Z, "My other car is a Golf III") That being said, the Z is just nicer. Probably will hold off on a decision until I find out where my next project is. Would suck to buy a new car and then get a project in the U.S. 4 mos. later!

Saw quite a few 350Z's while on vacation. They look nice alone, but somehow a bit disappointing and tawdry on a full highway :\

Too bad, I like the retro concept in general, and Z cars...

Just try it, you wanker (notice use of the word wanker, not jerk) wink.gif

If you get a project in the UK be afraid, be very afraid of car prices there - although the standard spec is better than in Europe or the U.S.

Point taken re: the RX-8, although I had been led to believe that it would seat adults in the back comfortably. The motor in the RX-8 drinks oil - a litre at every other fill up apparently - but is smooth and revs like a bastard. The Z has a much bigger lump in a (relatively) low state of tune - should be feasbile to really make this baby cook with a new ECU, air filter and exhaust.

As for colours - glad you've seen sense regarding that blue - it looks toss in blue or silver IMHO - black and burnt orange are where it's at. RAYS alloys are a must of course. Regarding the spec, 24k GBP is enough for an RX-8 with every single option fitted, of which there are only about 3 - xenons, leather and sat-nav.

Have you seen the 350Z convertible?? They're out in Japan and available in the UK on import (God bless the Japs for driving on the left). Quite a tasty looking bit of kit...
DrivinWest
The convertibles are in the US too; don't much care for them though. I like Z overall but the door handle just kills the lines IMHO.

I think a G35 (basically the same car with diff looks and a heafty price tage) is much more attractive, expecially with the spoiler.

For the price/performance value though, I'd probably get the Z

The convertible is out in the States as well. Haven't yet seen one in person but the photos are nice. I have to admit that a small part of me would like a project in the U.S. so that I could convert my yoyos and buy a "nice bit of kit" as you say...and a new suit wink.gif (Although, I will never ever buy a suit in the U.S. again, they look like utter shit...) Imagine driving up PCH on the California coast in a convertible Z!

It's a bit like flying coach on Lufthansa...

@DW
G35 is also extemely nice. As you say, a bit expensive though...
Jimbo
@Ketchup - expensive suits and fast cars, eh??? You're one cool S.O.B. mate...

@Jimbo
Can you think of anything better to spend money on? Fancy hotels, expensive dinners, and travelling to wherever the fcuk in Vietnam to see some temples are all way overrated. Looking good and driving a nice fast car are things you can enjoy on a daily basis. I don't want a big house either. I spend most of my time at home in two rooms anyway: the living room and the bedroom. No need for fancy dining rooms etc.

BTW "cool" is however not the word to describe me tooling around in my '93 Golf III!
Jimbo
Couldn't agree more - hotels, houses, food, holidays, seeing beautiful architecture in the far east - all crap. What people (mainly girls) don't understand is the sheer fun involved in ragging a 3.5 litre sports car down a crowded high street, paying little or no regard to the safety of those around you. You don't get that in some shitty temple in Vietnam - apart from maybe standing on an American landmine, 'Nam is almost completely safe these days and therefore boring. And it's too hot to wear a Savile Row suit.

Amen...Jimbo...Amen...
