Perhaps by starting this topic I am guilty of it's subject.
However, I have begun to notice an incredible amount of topics, and more so posts, that appear to be pointless ramblings of a mad person.
Am I the only one, or has anyone else noticed this ?

Mothbola, you aren't the only one who has noticed. I believe it's the "Excited Virgin" stage of TT life.
QUOTE
Excited Virgin
Oh my God. This site contains sooo much information. Everything from where to buy pickled mudfish, replacement refrigerator glass, or 2-piece plastic easter eggs, to how to get a Brazilian beach wax or which pubs are best for getting laid. And so many people too! Over 50 other excited virgins at the newbie meetup last night. Yeah, this is gonna be fun!
Not included in this definition is the predilection to write absolute trash up and post it as a new topic, thinking everyone must be just as interested in your inner monologue as you are.
Hopefully they will get a grip on things and move to more developed stages.

Sometimes I find my own conversation trivial but then I look at the brainf posts here and feel much better.

in fact this could be an amusing thread for people to pour out their stream of (un)consciousness in a mindless, unpunctuated manner (like some people's posts normally really).

Rule No.2 of TT - Don't let the bastards get you down.
DrivinWest ain't too bad after he's bought you a drink. Even JulesWinnfield is OK. Both suffer from the 'mainstream' view of life. Don't worry, keep fightin' back... there are a lot more readers behind your argument than you probably realise.
Opinions are opinions. Nobody is 100% right and nobody is 100% wrong with their opinions. They are based on what you know, and what you believe. Beware of statistics, as they can be easily manipulated. Avoid heresay and circumstantial evidence. Believe experts only when an adequate number have independently corroborated. Quoting Google or Wiki is the same as quoting Fox or The Daily Sport.
A conspiracy theory is just a theory until there are facts and hard evidence. Then it becomes a possibility. One method of preventing a conspiracy theory from elevating to a possibility is to prevent and obstruct the release of facts and hard evidence. Obvious prevention and obstruction adds to the conspiracy theory, and we enter the spiral of denial. Pouring scorn on an opinion is no argument. Just an excuse. Namecalling means that there is no argument at all.
Oh shit! I just realised that this whole religion and God thing is just a conspiracy theory.

We have already dicussed this peeps. It is alright to talk to yourself(I know for I do). It is even alright to ask yourself questions, but when you ask yourself to repeat the question well one word therapy. I have fortunately not hit the third stage.
@Sin
When do we get rule #3?

quoting Wiki is not the same as quoting the daily sport
Wiki is just as accurate as the Encyclopedia Britannica,
according to the Beeb (I suppose you'll be telling me next that quoting the Beeb is just as accurate as posting the National Enquirer

)
Auntie BEEB accurate? Are you sure Topsy? Me mates what work there claim that the level of truth in reporting has spiralled downwards at the same rate that the bullshit has risen over the past 9 years. The back of Cornflakes packets will soon be more believable than sad old tired Auntie. Do we feel satisfactorily dumbed down today?

I often think out loud but when I post, the only thing I say is "You stupid motherfucker" as I furiously type away and post some rant or another.

The current batch of "excited TT virgins" will, in three months time, enter the "disillusionment phase". They'll start complaining about how boring TT is, how it isn't like it was when they first joined, and they'll say that they're going to leave. Then a few days later they'll come back from the dead. And the next stage to becoming a TT Jedi can begin.

What's wrong with senseless posts? It's all a form of communication as well as being fun and relaxing, so why complain? Have I missed something?

I personally think that complaining about the profundity or lack of in the posts on a public forum is like complaining that if you get a group of monkeys together they do a lot of cackling and scratching each other's bums, and the monkeys that have been part of the troop longer moan all the time about newbie monkeys not using the search function to find all the best fruit and nut trees to pick, and the best places to hang out and get a good grooming, and the older monkeys also like to bash the newbie monkeys for daring to post things that may have been posted before, rather than show a little bit of understanding and patience or even leave it to the modmonkeys to deal with it, or assume a position of vastly overinflated intellectual and moral superiority, despite having absolutely nothing to back it up with.

I think I like Andrew's post, but need to re-read it when sober to fully understand all that monkey business.
