Germany's next top model

Lena represents exactly what I expect from a model too - pretty, good body, diligent, capable and a bit ditzy.

Jennifer should never have been in the last three as she looks like a man, walks like a pigeon and has a very strange voice. That is certainly not what I expect of a 'next top model'.

Normally you need to take that with a pinch of Kate Moss "salt" but in a fashion/TV combo the goss on the Müllerstrasse is going to be pretty reliable. One of the benfits of playing for the other team, innit.

but that's the thing, models shouldn't necessary be "pretty", they should be versatile, be able to transform their looks, and have an ineteresting face...lena just looks very safe, and the exact opposite of versatile. she reminds me of another german "supermodel" - eva padberg (although noone outside of germany knows of her), average, friendly face, blond-ish, big boobs. it's almost frustrating how much germany is not willing to move beyond the cookie-cutter notion of what attractive means. i mean they are more playboy models or something like c&a fashion, but definately not high-fashion...(and they never have any lips ) i really did think yvonne was more interesting-looking, but that also may be because i think lena has awful hair in my opinion.

If you look at fashion shows very few of the girls are what the average person considers attractive, pretty or hot. More and more models are coming from Eastern Europe because we're just so bored of pretty, we want exotic. Jennifers features are very interesting esp. the shape of her eyes and nose, they are not normal to what you find in Germany. She looks a bit like a native american princess or something and a lot of fashion designers do look for models that have something unique to offer. Yes they have to be thin which she isn't so that the clothes hang properly and they have to be symmetrical which she is. I also agree her walk leaves something to be desired but as Bruce said models that are as beautiful and unique as her can get away with having their own walking style.

Pretty girls are a dime a dozen. Then again what do I know.

but there are LOTS of attractive girls from eastern europe. they are however, less generic looking, if that is what you mean, yes exotic...i totally agree with you ER on the modeling industry standards, but the avergae male (or any german for that matter it seems) is inclined towards the playboy end of the modeling spectrum...hence lena...

Perhaps I'm missing the point here.. But wasn't the show called Germanys next top model ? In which case. all this talk about Eastern European and exotic looks, isn't really the typical German look.

I think they got it pretty much spot on with Lena. If she's to be modelling mainly in Germany, she has the right look for German Fashion.

she won a modeling contract, her agent was sitting next to her and she hinted at finishing her Abi first? i'm sure her agent wasn't too keen on that. he has to cash-in on her NOW, before the public forgets her.
personally, i think the agent will make more money (internationally) with jennifer just b/c she has a different look. there are quite a few "lena" look-alikes out there, but then again, it was "germany's top model" and boring cut-out blonds are popular here.

but heidi klum has a fantastic smile. it's contagious. that was what made her international.

I totally agree with ER here. I think the most important part is a good body and the possibility to transfer different styles (versatility). It doesn't matter to much if you look good. Honestly, Kate Moss is not beautiful either and she is a top model. The guy from oui set (the fashion company that wants the GNTM to promote their new collection) said that as well. He said it is important that you can always recognise a face. I believe that you can recognise Jennifer's face very easily, but I don't think the same about Lena. I thought that Jennifer's face is very interesting and exotic. Even though I didn't really like her personality I wanted her to win. Her walking might look a bit awkward, but even Bruce and the other guys said it was really really good and special. Lena might have the best looking on the whole and appeared more proffessional, but I found her kind of boring. Pretty but boring.
BTW, I'm fed up that all German top models are blonde, that's boring as well. On the other hand I was glad that none of the other girls came under the last three, because they all looked the same with their long brown hair. I think Jennifer , Lena and Yvonne deserved to be the top 3.

Ugh, I thought the show was terrible. Germans are all about clapping along to music. Drives me fking nuts.

Lena M...nose job candidate? She also has pretty bad skin - in the photo shoot they did without makeup, she had a huge zit on her forehead. Definitely a shame, cause she looked the most professional on the runway.

it does kind of negate the point of the thing, but on the other hand I'm pleased because it means that Jennifer gets something concrete out of it, too

So what's the big prize for Lena then? I mean, she wins the title and the Cosmo cover, but other than that she's doesn't set herself apart from the others. It's good that they'll all get jobs, but I still think it's LAME.

Mostly I thought the finale was LAME.

I'd never watched it before last night (although I did watch a few reruns on the internet) and the show was pretty crap, I agree

agreed. what's the point of having "one" winner. they're all at the same agency and will all be heavily pushed.

it's the same for all these casting shows. even with DSDS, some runners up get music contracts, however long-lasting they might be.

Well, at least all three will be working...unlike the millions of other people their age who are done with school and collecting money from the government while they live at home with Mom and Dad.

So, I guess that's something.

Had a rather heavy evening last night. Ended up in some club and realised I was displaying my breakdancing in front of number 2 & 3 models from this show ! They were clapping and paid me several compliments afterwards. Quite good fun girls actually. According to them:

- Heidi is a real sweetie
- That American guy who was the alleged expert is a bit of a gimp
- The girl who won it is a bitch (no real surprises coming from them!)
- My German rocks
- My friend was embarrassingly drunk and they would like me to tell him to stop working his magic near them

It was all going rather well and I thought I might have to call the old girlfriend to pass on the bad news... until Paulo Guerrero came over and said something along the lines of "I play for FC Bayern. Give me your number". She bought it. Might remember that line myself next time but I'll just throw a "don't" in there and hope they don't notice.

Janina was sat opposite me on the U1 from HBF to Rotkreuzplatz last night. She's cut the hair short and it really suits her. Rather sweetly, she had a black Paulpac bag with "Für Janina, You Rock! Kisses Heidi" and a loveheart written in silver pen on it (which is how you'd know who she was).
She's actually far prettier in the flesh, really beautiful eyes.

Lena was in Hollywood for Halloween with Heidi Klum and she dressed up in a dirndl. I just thought that was funny.

Allright, the selection of the new set of wannabies has just been announced... not a bad choice, but oh my god... for the ones who didn't get selected, they think their life is completely over... they're mostly not even 20 yet!!

i never watch this show, only see the pictures while at the gym (i listen to my ipod rather than watch t.v.). apparently last night a bunch got their hair cut.

i like barbara, the red head & her bavarian accent. anni looks too much like the girl who won last year (who incidentally was seen with a guy from US5 who i thought was really gay). i think milla is very interesting looking especially with her new haircut.

then again, i don't understand why those who won last year won. IMHO, there was nothing too exciting about any of them except jennifer & she came in 3rd place.

She won for her legs, and she's well pretty too.

She's just a skinny girl, she definitely eats and she is healthy.

The show is just that, a show, none of the girls, last or this season have any potential to become the next Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klumor Julia Stegner. There are only a handful of top models in the world, someone who can translate well from magazine covers, major ad campaigns and runway, and I doubt they can find their success at 20 yrs old, on a TV show, if they have not been already scouted out at the tender age of 15-17. Some of them have the potential, perhaps, to becoem A model, but not top- as I think Lena's situation has proved last year...she has not graced many international covers or has been spotted in the Milan, Paris or NY shows (yeah, and she looks indeed fine and healthy, as can be, in the fashion business)...This season Anja, has the body for runway and has a sense of style that others just don't (esp, with the new short hair, there is something of Evangelista in her photos), but the girl just can't walk at ALL. Milla's is interesting but her pictures leave much room for improvement. I think Hana can make may be something of herself, out of all of them...

There are some reports that Mandy is a finalist, also pictures showing up on Gettyimages would support that. Pro7 forum
