selling car to boyfie's family and want to give the fabric car seats a good scrub (there's a few stains) what's the best way to go about this? can anyone recommend a special detergent?

Any shop which sells car accessories will be able to give you a spray-on cleaner (usually foam based). Most of them will be sufficient for your requirements. You will find car accessories in Hertie, Walmart and the like or specialised stores such as ATU. If you need to ask, you should use the word Polsterschaumreiniger and you'll be sorted.

Do a patch test first to check that the seats can be washed at all though.
If you are doing the carpets as well (though a sprinkle of baking soda and a good vaccuum will do the job in most cases), then their Kraft-Schaum is very good.
For the cockpit, most household spray cleaners will do (even Pledge) but remember to spray the cloth and then wipe, not spraying directly (over-wetting can be a real problem).
