The love in this context would be spiritual (like caring for those around you). No monkey business. I see it when I look at children who love unconditionally. I see it when I see two old people going for a walk in the park. I saw it recently on the news when people banded together to assist victims of natural disasters. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea.

THat is the bloody problem with these bizarre religions. They are like the set menu's. You either take the menu or go with something else. None of that swapping and changing.

Now, if religion were more like the Pick and Mix at Woolworth's then it may be worth considering.

So who is going to list all of the perceived "benefits" of these various religions? I cannot be arsed. But I guess we would then just pick out the ones we like and form our very own personalised religions. A religious form of 1to1 marketing as it were

BadDoggies view is naive in the extreme. The rules are only a small part of religion, and even when we only consider the rules, as I said before, I doubt any two people even of the same sub-group within a religion share exactly the same set of beliefs etc.


Thats what everyone does anyway. And has done for most of history. Thats why things change. We arent still ancestor worshipping anymore. We have selected what we like, as time goes on, from other cultures and adopted them into our own. Nothing wrong with that.

It would require a very simple religion in the first place to even make it possible to obey consistently, and exactly like other people who share that religion.

I dont know where the idea that religions are some solid set of rules comes from, its anything but. Even catholics, who are supposed to believe and obey exactly what the pope commands dont do that.
