Ok,
Heres the arrangements for the 6 Nations Rugby Predict A Score.
There are 3 sections, Game Predictions, Final Table Predictions and Total Predictions
* Total Predictions
You must with your first competition posting predict
1. Total number of points scored in the competition
2. Total number of penalties successfully kicked through the posts in the competition
3. Total number of tries awarded (including penalty tries) in the competition
Five points are available for the person with the closet prediction. In the case of a tie, each person will get the five points.
* Final Table
You must with your first competition posting predict the final table postions for each team.
You get two points for each team you get in the right position
* Game Predictions
This is where the major changes are this year. You can up until midday on the friday before the games post your prediction for the coming weekends games. This is to help you take into account poor performances, or injurys or the disappearance of englands sweet chariot. You can of course post all your predictions on week1.
For a complete accurate game prediction you get five points
For a prediction that has the correct winner and score difference you get three points (includes a draw)
For a prediction thas has only the correct winner you get one point.
Please keep a look out of the prediction threads on TT. There will be a separate thread for each week.
Right, cost is again €10. 70% goes to the winner, 20% to 2nd & 10% to 3rd place.
Please sign up on this thread if you want to take part. I will be around at various events over the next few days if you want to hand over some money. I will post the first thread for the predictions on Monday 30th

the person with the closet prediction
Ah, so the predictions don't have to be accurate in any way then. That's a relief.

I have many fairly hazy memories about last night, but the one that's clear as a bell is pootle asking "So, d'ya wanna join 6 Nations predict a score?". Perhaps it's so clear because I heard it 89 times! Cookie tells me I did have her kick in 10 for me (that's a good wife there - supporting my gambling habits and all), so I'm in. Consider me
the Mendoza Line for this venture. All who finish below me should be ashamed

Ok the results are in

629 points were scored in the competiton - moko scored 5 points with 633 points predicted
61 tries were scored in the competition - coolerking scored 5 points with 63 tries predicted
73 penalties were kicked through the posts in the competition - space scored 5 points with 71 penalties predicted
Now, the winner the_eagle gets 70% of the pot... €161
Not sure how to split the money with 2nd and 3rd place...
2nd should get 20% 3rd 10% - anyone got a suggestion???

Well there are three of them in second so give them 10% each.

lucky that only three people shared second place. Had there been four, then they'd have recieved less than the the third placed person, lol.

Respect to The_Eagle. For a man who predicted a 4-4 draw for one of the early games it's an impressive achievement. Am shocked and stunned and not a little bit amazed to see me on the podium too.

Er, no. Three people share second place, yes, and could get 10% each. The third-placed person, who actually came fifth and also happens to be me, should get bugger all

Mar 23 2006, 9:48 am

All right then. First, congrats to those at the top of the table, especially the_eagle. The Irish represented well here as well as in the tournament. No coincidence there, I think.
For those of you that finished with less than the 14 points that this rugby-ignorant Yank managed to scratch together...hang your head in shame.

Right so, as a second place winner that's worth €23 to me.
I'll buy a 6 month Toytown Supporters Subscription (worth €10) for the first two people to PM me who are not, nor have ever been, supporters..
