English-speakers in Ismaning

Who wants to meet up and do something?

Toytown Germany > Discussion forum > South Germany > Munich > Meetups in Munich

Ok, so I've heard through the grapevine that there are like 20 English-speaking families in Ismaning. And my Tagesmutter just told me that she has a new little girl who's mom is American. So where are you people hiding? And why haven't I seen you in the mini-MAL or the Tengelman yet?

Anyway, I know you're out there- so why don't we meet up in Ismaning and do something?
benpanter
I'm in Garching rather than Ismaning, as are a few other English speakers... I'd be happy to make a trip over for a curry in Rama at some point if you want to get a group together?
Jenny L
I think that would be lovely. I haven't actually been to any of the restaurants here in Ismaning, so I'm game for anything.
Blimeygirl
Rama is very good and easy access near the S-Bahn. I work in Ismaning and would be happy to meet up for a curry after work one night smile.gif (I work with a large contingent of English-speakers...could possibly drag them along although most are not TTers).

Incidently, most of the people I work with do a daily lunch run to Minimal and/or an after work shopping expedition so surprising you haven't run into any.
BadDoggie
I can usually make it to Rama for lunch or dinner since I work out here in 80357 but since my company's being taken over, our offices are moving near the OEZ before June. Can't do Mondays, Thursdays are best for dinner.

woof.

Hi, I live in Garching, as BenPanter pointed out, and can come to Ismaning for a curry at Rama anytime. There is also another Indian Restaurant called Namaskar which is also quite good. Was there just last week, pretty good Chicken Tikka Masala. Anyway, we could start a sort of Satellite Town curry night here in Ismaning or something like that. Since most of us might not be able to head out to the Curry nights in Munich, maybe this could be a real good alternative sometimes.

V.K.
UrbanAngel
I live close by so could make it too! I've eaten in Rama before... it was ok but not The Best Eva!!!112!! Next week I'm free Monday evening and Friday (early evening).
vishalarora
Lets really have an Ismaning curry night like once a week, day to be chosen at our first meeting. What do you say to that?

For me, any day of the week is usually good. I would like to see this become a regular thing. Maybe you guys out there could all decide on a day of the week or something. Like I said, I am coming today at 7:30 to the Rama across from the S Bahn in Ismaning. Maybe I will see you guys there.

V.K.
Jenny L
Yeah, Rama, next Wednesday. I think 7 is good. If people want to meet up earlier for a drink or something, that's cool. I can't get there before 7. But I can go ahead and make a reservation if I know how many people can make it.
don_riina
If you do go to Rama, don't ber tempted to go for a beer beforehand at the bar by the station. It's wieeeeeeerd.
Jenny L
Yeah, that's true. Lots of freak shows in the bar by the station.
Yeti
If the Don calls a bar weird I wouldn't even send a bombdisposal robot in there.
benpanter
There's a nice little place round the corner from there, though I'm not convinced I could find it again. Will see if I can find it on the way over for post-curry drinks.
Persius
I don't live out by Ismaning, but I do work there. I'd certainly appreciate a good curry and some english language chat after work and am around next Wednsday (AFAIK anyway). Any room at the table for a curry night noob?
Jenny L
That'd be great. I'll call for a reservation on Tuesday evening. So whoever's said they'd like to go by then will be included in the reservation.
interplanetjanet
What the hell?! Where were you all when I was living in Ismaning? [insert pouty smiley here]
Blimeygirl
Sorry sad.gif I wasn't working there when you were living here...we coulda met up for curry a lot smile.gif (or a lot of curry)
Allershausen
Does Rama still have an Italian menu? It used to, but it's a long time since I've been there. If it does I'd like to come as well, I'm not a big curry fan.
interplanetjanet
Yes, it does. I doubt they'd ever change it. Husband owner is Indian, wife owner is Italian.
Shadowchaser
Hi there!

I really wish I had stumbled on this thread a little earlier!

I've just moved with my husband to Ismaning begining of March and would *love* to meet some friendly faces!

It seems I missed the last get together, anyone game to meet up again?
Jenny L
Sorry, I just saw this. Yeah, I'd be up for going out again.
nic
Still want to go out? I am in Garching, let me know if you'd like to.

Cheers
Jenny L
God, I keep losing track of this thread.

Is it time to have an Ismaning meetup? (I suppose Garching people could come along too wink.gif ).

That would be fun!
Grinner
Another Ismanning Curry night? smile.gif

Sounds good to me!
Shadowchaser
OK, how does next weekend (Friday/ Saturday night? ) sound to you?

We can meet at Namaskar - absolutley divine food there!!
Carm
Isn't the Indian in Ismaning called Rama?
Jenny L
Yeah, there is a Rama in Ismaning too. Just next to the s-bahn station. That's the place we went last time and it was pretty good.

@Shadowchaser-Ok, by next weekend do you mean the weekend coming up or the weekend after that?
Shadowchaser
I meant not this Friday (tommorrow) but next Friday or Saturday?

I've heard about Rama, but have heard that from those have tried both that Namaskar is better.. Dunno if you guys agree?

At any rate, I'm quite easy on where we meet! biggrin.gif

(edited because I keep forgetting to actually *look* at what I type before I add the comment.. bad speller me!)

Wow, you know how to have fun. Here's me wasting my time in the pub...
interplanetjanet
I don't live in Germany anymore, but when I did it was in Ismaning (actually Fischerhaeuser). Definitely make sure to get a nice meal at Rama!
bluedave

Jenny L
I wouldn't mind. Friday is out for me now (cocktail night beckons). Are we doing an evening Indian restaurant thing? What about Saturday evening?

yes. So are you interested in curry on Saturday evening?
GreenTea
Why is this thread in "National Groups"? Not wanting to offend the national pride of the Ismaningers, but I think it might be more likely to reach its target audience in "Events and Meetups". Still, I'm only a Garchinger, and not even a real one at that, just a Garching "Gastarbeiter" from Munich, so what would I know. wink.gif
Jenny L
Constructive criticism only accepted if you decide to come to cocktail night tomorrow, GreenTea. tongue.gif

I'm not actually sure why it's in the National Groups... unsure.gif I guess I could start a new thread in the Events thing.

I shall only come if I have something to celebrate - which is why I'm trying to get my post count up to 250. Only one more post to go now. biggrin.gif

Maybe the mods will move the thread if you ask them nicely?
Jenny L
So I shall keep you on the list for tomorrow night then, is that correct? tongue.gif
Shadowchaser
Ok, I'm in for Saturday night! biggrin.gif

Jenny can I ask you very nicely if you would mind taking care of the reservations? If they speak English, I'd be happy to do it..

So who do we having coming so far?

I'll put a thread in the events and meet-up section incase anyone missed this one..
