Hope you all had a pleasant weekend! I did. Now, what is the correlation between Munich's racist past and today? How was it possible for a two bit 'wall paper hanger' from Austria to attain German citizenship in Munich after failing to do so in other cites in the country, then go on to become the 'The Leader'? Das macht keinen sinn. Did racism began in Munich with Hitler and the 'Third Reich'? Munich after-all is the birth place of the Nazi regime! Right?

Munich isn't the worst place for racism / xenophobia anyway by a LONG chalk.
Some small places in Brandenburg and Saxony put the odd grumpy grandma or an overloy long stare on the U-Bahn well into perspective.

The fact that Mr, Hitler seved for a number of years in the German Army and was in fact a bit of a war heroe meant he was practically a German citizen when the war was over. The fact that he stepped in and filled the power vacumn is well documented and makes for jolly good reading late at night( SS uniform and whip are of course optional ) I don´t mean Mein Kampf, cos that book really is shite.

In a yet another oddness of racism and intolerance I have recently been indirectly accused of being a neonazi, and me one of the few paddies in the village.

So my encounters with racism in Germany have involved me being accused of being an American and getting punched for it, being accused of being an American and thus being refused entry into a night club and now being accused of being a local and a neonazi and having my letter box defaced.
