Interesting article about how the Americans have been effectivly engaging in imperialism by taxing the world for the last half century, and how a solution from Iran can help restore some fairness.

It starts with a lie.
the economic foundation of every single empire is the taxation of other nations.
Most empires have been built on trade, not taxation.

Loada bollox written by someone with no knowledge of economics who keeps harpiing on about breaking currency away from specie like it's a bad thing.
The dollar was stable, hence people accepted it. The country could support the economy. It is no longer; the Euro is much more stable and big enough that more countries are now turning to it.

What sucks about this sort of logic, economics aside--and I couldn't speak for that--is how some people, when they perceive faults on one side, attempt to make a case for another side that is at least as bad, if not worse. Even assuming US policy is designed by a bunch of malicious bastards, there's nothing to say that Iranian policy isn't designed by equally malicious bastards.
Tis why the old Dem/Republican thang doesn't work on me. It's crap. Too many people fall for the either/or rhetoric. As if there were but two options.
First thing we do, let's jail all the politicians. I don't care what country they come from. We can put them all in the same building and let them take all their aggression out on each other there, where they are far away and can do the rest of us no harm.

Fuck me though dude, you ain't getting my vote to ever run light entertainment on TV: Put them far away from us is fine, but me and Hazza have already copyrighted out Bush vs Saddam TV pay per view fight night. (Is Saddam a politician? Is Bush??)
You run the world, but give your outcasts to the don riina entertainment network please. I wanna become the new opium of the masses.

@dr: Not to sound too much like a politician here, but I do believe in working together to reach an acceptable compromise on matters such as these. Clearly, I failed to impress upon you that this prison will be equipped with state of the art filming technology and a fullly equipped studio. I think we can work together on this.
And no, I should absolutely NOT be put in charge of light entertainment. But you could probably talk me into tossing a Minister of Arts position your way.

QUOTE
Economically, the American Empire was born with Bretton Woods in 1945. The U.S. dollar was not fully convertible to gold, but was made convertible to gold only to foreign governments.
From WikipediaQUOTE
The United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, commonly known as Bretton Woods conference, was a gathering of 730 delegates from all 45 Allied nations at the Mount Washington Hotel, situated in the resort town of Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. The conference was held from 1 July to 22 July 1944, when the Agreements were signed to set up the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Monetary Fund, to regulate the international monetary and financial order after World War II.
Call me old-fashioned, but there is a need for facts to be quoted when establishing an argument.

Thats whats great about Dominos. Horrible pizza but when your stoned and its 1AM they will deliver. I miss that. Our local Dominos had us on file and we had our pizza usually in 15 min(we always tipped fat also) steaming hot. Always regretted in the morning though(just like Taco Bell).

Quizno's rules.
Usually I'd agree with that, but I have just discovered Jersey Mike's... and quizno's cannot hold a candle to it. They cut the meats and cheeses from blocks right when you order it. Kept fresh in a fridge and sooooo good. As for the mexican food in germany, I ended up making my own stuff because I couldn't find anything worth 2 euro cents. As bad as it is, Taco Smell would blow away the crap I've had in munich (well, probably in more than one way...).
