I have to explain the words shipper, forwarder and integrator ( in german).
Does anyone know what these three words mean in the area of logistics, and could anyone tell me what their tasks are each day - their general work every day either in german or english.
Or simply give me a definition. I need to find out about them in as much detail as possible.
My boss wants to know what they mean in detail by the end of today so any info would be much appreciated

Shipper is the person who ships and most probably also produces and/or retails the goods. In German you would probably say Lieferant, which means both supplier and "the person who delivers". Nail on the head. I thought. But the Langenscheidt economics definition doesn't agree with me. It translates "shipper" purely in terms of "shipping", as in a "shipping company":
(economics) shipper n COMMS Verlader m, IMP/EXP, TRANSP Befrachter m, Verlader m, Versender(in) m und f
(normal) shipper s. Wirtschaft 1. Verschiffer m, Ablader m;2. Spediteur m
The (freight) Forwarder in my business is the company in the harbour who sees that the good which arrive by ship get put through customs and "forwarded" to the inland shipping company who then transport the goods within Germany to Munich. In German I would "Beförderer" I think. Langenscheidt says:
(economics) forwarder n (fwdr) COMMS, IMP/EXP, TRANSP carrier Beförderer m, Frachtspediteur m, Spediteur m, sender Absender m, Sender m, Verlader m
(normal) forwarder s. Spediteur
