Titanium wedding rings

Munich jewellers who stock these

My beloved man wants to find a titanium wedding ring - does anyone know of any jewellers in Munich that stock them?
Pirulero
No diea! But it's a good investment though! In "the Abyss" the main character is saved when his titanium wedding ring gets caught in a closing bulkhead and keeps it open that fraction longer...genius...
pootle
Bad idea if you ever have an accident involving a swollen finger, they cant cut the ring off!
Yeti
But he's not married at the time.
AnnaW
Seriously? I knew there had to be some secret geek reason why he wanted one!!

if you guys travel at all, I would not be looking in Munich. Considering the exchange rate and the fact that Munich is just plain expensive I would assume that shopping for rings would be more expensive here. Had someone shoot me a link one time. http://www.titaniumera.com/stonesettings.html

of course the exchange rate refering to Euro to US dollar

ask DW to pick up some titanium lying around NASA, you can always get the ring made.

Titanium's quite cheap though innit? My watch strap is titanium, and it wasn't that expensive...fuck, come to think of it my mountain bike's titanium. Give me a couple of sovs and I'll cut a piece of tubing off the crossbar.
arshoo
@Jimbo, me thinks those should be titanium alloys.
AnnaW
Titanium is indeed pretty darn cheap...we looked at various websites, including the titanium era one, but thought it might be a good plan to go and take a look at some shops too! I don't think any of the shops on the previous wedding ring thread mention Ti rings on their websites, although that doesn't mean they don't have any in...I just like to shorten the list to reduce shopping time!
Jimbo
Pure fucking titanium mate - FACT. wink.gif (OK, fair enough, I know fuck all about metals - it does say Ti on it though).

I have a titanium Wedding ring, and Mrs bavarian B has a matching one.
I bought them from a little jewelier in the centre of Augsburg,

That is exactly why my husband opted for titanium. It is a truly geeky reason!! Titanium has a nice look to it though. Platinum on men can be a bit too shiny.

I am with Pootle on this. I wanted a Titanium wedding band but was advised not to as it cannot be cut off in case of emergency
Tomasino
It's probably not a good idea.

Better to work on the real relationship and be strong in it than have some "strong" symbol of the relationship.

Isn't that what it's about anyway?

(I grew up reading plastic surgeon manuals at home and remember all of those ring injuries - I cringe at the thought of not being able to cut off a ring on a swelling finger)

Sorry for the bluntness. Just trying to be open.

I was just refering to the actual purchase where there would be a gem in the matching engagement or wedding ring.

Damn, you mean our relationship has to be based on something more than shiny jewellery??! Bugger.

Thanks for the advice y'all. Bloke has decided he will take the finger loss risks in his stride and ordered some 55 euro thing on titaniumera.de (they have a sale on that ends today!)...at that price if it's crap we'll just order another one!

I would highly recomend Titanium Era (link has been posted already in thread).
The missus and I both have rings from them and I also have a Ti necklace, the quality is very good.
Also check out Allergy Matters (http://www.allergymatters.com/) they have various Ti jewellery and no import duty.
The Boccia brand stuff is good - the missus has earrings from them.

Why Ti?
Hypoallergenic - Especially good for earrings, even better than gold.
Doesn't tarnish (well hardly) - No green gunk.
Techy/Sport coolness - all the best kit has Ti cool.gif
Gold jewellery on a man is often a bit questionable (IMO...!)

Practicaly all Ti products are alloys, pure Ti is a relatively soft metal.
A Titanium ring CAN be cut off in an emergency, it is hard but not indestructable.

I am sure Titanium Era have lots more useful info as their site was well done.

And in answer to the original question - No, no idea where in Munich to get them. While looking for ours a few places had 1 or 2 but no real choice. This was a few years back and this sort of thing is not so unusual anymore.
