Automatically booting up the PC in the mornings

How to schedule this?

I was wondering whether it was possible to have my PC start-up automatically at a certain time in the morning before I wake-up, launch a few applications like Outlook and a web browser and go to a certain website, say the weather?
I know this is possible with a Mac but is it possible with a PC and, if so, how is it done?
It would be nice to have my coffee machine timer coincide with the timing of the computer start-up so that all would be ready for me when I crawl out of bed.
Darkknight
Yes, but your Bios must support, automatic power-on. Then you would sched. your applications to launch, say 5 min after the PC startup time.

Just leave your machine on all the time
Yeti
Kick significant other out of bed first and tell them to switch on the machine or get a trained hamster.

YEs this is possible like Darknight says go into your Bios, look for power management and you should have different options for booting for example boot from LAN, boot from keyboard etc. One of these options should be automatic boot and below it should be the time which you wish the computer to boot -this will be greyed out until you enable automatic boot. Once this is enabled you're half way there, now put shortcuts to the applications you want to load into your startup folder in program files. These programs will now automatically load.

judders, i can't find the startup folder in my program files... would it be called anything else?
judders
What version of windows you using?
mrbrain
XP professional
feasty
its in your windows dir somewhere i think. if not you can get to it on the start menu i think.
judders
C:\Documents and Settings\Craig Judson\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

or go start -> all programs -> double click start up
judders
In there place any Shortcuts to applications you want to load
mrbrain

Having your PC boot up "all on its own" is hardly having your entire life automated now is it. You're just being silly.

Eh? I can see it all now

Bird: Fancy a shag
You: Ah, bollocks, no. Gotta go and press one button on the front of my PC. Shit.

I do that alot admittedly, downloading bestial animal porn and so forth, but it'll knacker your hard drives eventually really. Unless you have loads of posh hardware, but if you did, you would probably know how to get your PC to boot at a certain time.
judders
That poodle porn is awsome wink.gif
