myself and a couple of mates have got tickets for the ivory coast v serbia game.
we arrive in munich on the saturday before and leave the following thursday.
this gives us 4 days spare
so can anyone on this site suggest ...
the four top sites to see?
the best authentic bavarian restaurant/pub that is not a tourist trap?
a small but kicking live music venue for 3 thirtysomethings?
same as above but mainly indie nightclub?
and lastly the best pub to watch england v sweden and other assorted teams.

if anyone can help cheers,we may buy you a beer!!!

I'm a tour guide, just a thought.

What are in interested in seeing for sites? Do you like palaces? Do you like churches? do you want to spend your time at a famous beer garden? Or maybe a famous beer hall? ...or the non-famous ones...

It all depends on your interests as a tourist.

and now, more beer.

Well I could help some, but then you might really buy that beer. Probably in that pub where you'll be watching the friggin' soccer. And all you'd talk about would be the friggin' soccer. I'd have to stand there with my hands over my ears all night chanting 'NFL, NFL, NFL'. Nah. I'll be home behind locked doors.

I'll give you a hint, though - all the things you're looking for are already listed on this forum. Just do a search.
Enjoy your visit though. Bring flowers. wink.gif

That being said, MY top sites for the average tourist are:

1. Nymphenburg
2. Hofbrauhaus
3. Asam Kirche
4. Marienplatz/St. Peter's/frauenkirche

Soccer (disambiguation)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Soccer can refer to:

Football (soccer), a sport, also known as football or association football
Soccer (dog actor)
Soccer (video game)
Kicking the ball off the ground in Australian rules football (sometimes also called a Grubber kick)

Bavarian restaurant/pub: Unionsbräu is nice, and easy to get to if you're a little ambitious. Right at U4/5 Max-Weber Platz. Off the touristy beaten path. Not sure if there are English-language menus or whether the staff speaks English very willingly.

the four top sites to see?

Marienplatz/Odeonsplatz/Frauenkirche/National Theatre (basically walk around the relatively compact city centre)
Olympic Park (+BMW museum if you like that sort of thing)
Dachau
The Alps

i notice that the title to this thread has been changed
it was meant in jest and just as an attention getter so if i offended anyone with it i am very sorry.

thanks cinzia,
it dosnt matter about the amount of english spoken or written
i'll just have to get my act together on the german front

but that is the whole point of being part of the "soccer" world cup
its all about meeting new people "soccer" fans or otherwise.
and going to places you might not normally see (i.e we will be staying for a couple of nights in a place called sigmaringen south of stuttgart prior to coming to munich.i dont know anything about it but it looked nice on the map!!)

so as kat rightly points out all the information is on this site (and a very good site it is)
but its your city so if you can help me improve my time when there is no "soccer" that would be great.

Stay away from the Hofbrauhaus. Tourist trap central. Instead try the Augestiner Beerhall on Landsberger Strasse, right next to the actual brewery itself, cheaper and authentic, or its excellent beergarten across the bridge.
Victualienmarkt is also great, the city market and beer garden.
Go on a tour of the city, there are loads. Even a great free one.
