Howdy folks,
Can't find anything on a search about this. Does anyone know of motor racing circuits close and easily accessible to Munich? I want to take my old man for a rev head's day out when he arrives.

Other than go-karting, Bavaria is pretty dead as far as racing goes.. As far as I could find at least (I originally looked at bringing my Mini over with me to race and have fun but there isn't much about)

There's a dirt track for motorbike jumping and racing near where I used to live (near
Ingolstadt). Not sure of the name or open hours, can give you directions if you want (PM me for details). When is he going to be in Munich?
BTW, in Nürnberg in March is the night of 1000 jumps if you are into that sort of thing.

Thanks ajohnson, but he's a car circuit racing fan. He'll be in Munich in May.
Buggeryfuck, can't really be arsed going to Hockenheim...hmmm, my search will continue

Hockenheim is only a couple of hours away. I know they occasionally have race days on airfields around Augsburg but not whether these are open to the public.

Let me know if you find anything. The closest race I have been to was Nürnberg (not Nürburgring!) which was a bit of a train trip and its a road course so not always open to race traffic.
Circuit racing fan huh? Does he want to buy
my Mini Se7en?
Let me know if you find any race tracks. I think I asked this question in here a few years back and got nothing. I cant find the thread now.

He's already got himself a racing car...don't think my mum would be too impressed if he came back from europe with another.
Will let you know if I get anywhere in my search

I meant Norisring, which is in Nürnberg.
Nürburgring is 90km south west of Köln out north west like, not Nürnberg which is just a bit north.

Found this website which lists, supposedly, all the tracks in Germany...seems there isn't much in the way of circuits down this way.
Might look into Austria as another option.

Damn I was about to ask about tracks and found this thread. Where I lived in the UK I had four tracks all within an hour or two drive. Maybe we can arrange a group trip up to Hockenheim at some point throughout the summer?

The DTM (German Touring Car Championship) will be at the Norisring in July. Norisring uses the old podium that Adolf gave his speaches from as a grandstand.

If you've got the cash and there aren't any races on when he's over get him a ticket for the BMW ring taxi on the Nürburgring.

Norisring is wicked. They stage a round of the Jerry F3 at the same meeting.

Salzburgring costs 150€ a day, you don't have to book, just turn up, 36 bikes and 30 cars a day let on the track in 30min intervals and the next date is 1st May 2006.
It is a previous championship track for cars and bikes.
A1 Ring Austria is changing owners right now so until that is through, forget asking them for info.

Anyone know about rallying in this neck of the woods? I navigate back in Ireland and would be interested in having a go here. Struggling to find any web sites or information on rallying in Bavaria.

depends on what you want to do: participate or watch? motorcycles or cars?
for motorcycle racing, check out
www.racing4fun.de ... is a motorcycle hobby racers' forum but also lists all the tracks and their websites and all the professional motorcycle races as well.
if you want to drive round yourself, yep, check out salzburgring.
tip: easter sunday is the 1000km of Hockenheim (hockenheimring, big surprise), motorcycle race with semi-pro and hobby teams, a run-what-you-brought race, with everything from harleys to street bikes to professionally set up roadrace teams. great entertainment, lots to see, plan to go and watch myself (depending upon weather, get there either by 2 or 4 wheels). could be biggest fun-factor the german side of the isle of mann tt.

With cars, as in Colin McCrea style rallying. We have a car back in Ireland, but as i am spending most of my time here i would l like to try navigating here. I have contacted a few local motorclubs but so far none have replied!
I know very little about the local rallying scene so i am struggle to find out any information, even info on local events.
