So, St. Patricks day falling here on the weekend before and Ireland v England at Twickenham on the 18th. Crikey! Bye-bye liver.
Only a couple of weeks now till it all kicks off again. I can't wait! I will no doubt be watching most of the games in
Günther Murphys (as per usual) with a couple in The Arc for good measure. After discussion with Pootle the other night I think on the first day I'll go GMs for the Ireland game and then over to
The Arc for the Wales match...if my arse is not too firmly rooted to my chair.

Yes, I'm ok with the current system with regards to getting a try and converting, but I think there should be 2 bonus points awarded for bringing down any English back (even if they do it themselves). Also an extra point for the first player on any team to 'accidentally' take out the referee.
Or did you mean something different?

The Arc for this ! Def in for the predict a score. What did we do last year ? Was it something like points for guessing the exact score, points for guessing the winner, points for guessing the winning margin, and then bonus for total number of points and tries scored ? Something like that !

Ok

Katrina is banned this year. I'll work out the predict a score thing over the weekend and post a suggestion.
Some obscure questions would be great for bonus points.
Last year (I think) we had the total number of tries scored, penalties kicked, and total number of points in the competition
Any other suggestions?

People came up with lots of ideas last year, didn't they, but I had a quick search for last year's thread and I couldn't find it.
Did it get binned?
Weren't people keen to get points for the margin of victory rather than just for predicting the correct score? I seem to remember it was something along those lines, anyway.

ok,
I found the spreadsheet from last year in my office email.
5 points for predicting the correct score & winners
3 points for predicting the correct winning margin & winners
1 point for predciting the correct winners
You had to predict the final table positions, with each correct position getting 2 points
And then finally
Total Points scored in all games
Total Number of tries scored in all games
(including penalty tried awarded)
Total Number of penalties goals kicked
Now, this may be an administrative nightmare, but how about each weekend taking predictions

exact scores is pot luck , picking winners means u might have to know a thing or two about the game... that's my logic.

Would be great to see Ireland, Wales and france beat the "lets kick the ball every time" England. They have a poor coach at England who has wasted over Million pounds on knackered Rugby League star Andy Farrell who as yet hasnt played a game!

Wigan knew what they were doing when Union wanted him! Andy Robinson has made some strange selections and isnt really rated much by many people.
Ireland can surprize many teams and have players that can win matches . France can be brilliant or thugs depending how they feel and the Welsh can also be similar to Ireland. Scotland and the Italians/Argentinians well less said the better.Apparently more people play Cricket in Scotland than play Rugby Union now and the SRU are in a financial and physical mess!Just hope the games are better than last year as they were poor games most in 2005 to watch speaking from a neutral point of view
Prediction
France 8Pts
Ireland 8Pts
Wales 6Pts
England 4Pts
Scotland 2Pts
Italy/Argentina 0Pts (Many of the Italians are Argentinians who have a Italian parent or Grand parent!)

HOW TO MAKE HUMBLE PIE.
take one ailing chariot. add sugar and swing low to sweeten. mix in slowly a couple of dashes and cut through the middle cleanly and swiftly with a fresh slice of cueto. turn up heat being careful not to leave to much air in the lineout. after sixty minutes add some matured dallaglio, remembering to use a badly placed referee if the defence gets sticky. keep turning up the heat and after adding a slightly knocked on dawson - dont overdo the knock on - finish pie with a touch of voyce.
best served with lamb and leaks.

Was reported in the Scotsman Newspaper couple of months ago will try and find the report when time. Honestly especially in the Border regions many Rugby Union teams have folded or struggling which could be one reason why Scottish Rugby Union has been doing it tough as many of the top Scottish players came from clubs like Kelso, Gala, Jedburgh etc. The crowds are down to a couple of hundred and the youth section is a mess with kids preferring Soccer or staying and playing on the Computer/gameboy/X Box at home.

sounds like the Scotsman newspaper was spouting utter bollocks, I'm afraid, DallyM.
Total number of
Cricket players in Scotland (senior and junior in 2005) is about
12,000source: ICC-cricket.comTotal number of
Rugby Union players in Scotland (senior and junior as per 2002) is about
77,000source: IRB stats found on a rugby magazine sitedespite the differing ages of the stats, i doubt Scottish rugby has lost 65,000 or 84% of ots player base in 3 years.

The IRB are a set of lieing fascist gits Graham and spin and tell lies to suit themselves. Their webpage is full of inaccuracys on playing numbers and other details. Schotte thought you lived in Scotland should know whats going on there mate here read this and Graham and shows you how small Rugby union is in Scotland and what a mess its in. Looks like the Scotsman where i cant exactly find the quote wasnt talking bollocks at all but the truth that Rugby Union is struggling big style even with the win yesterday
Friends of ScotlandLook just above the "International Fixture" headline where it says
"Over 150 clubs are registered with cricket Scotland, the national governing body, which is more than the number of Rugby Union clubs. But there are dozens of unregistered cricket teams which take no part in the formal Leagues...It is estimated that there are around 12.000 active cricketers in Scotland"
Buzzle.comJohn Jeffrey former Scottish international and now involved at the Melrose side as well as other areas of Scottish Rugby Union including the U21s side says this
"France has 90 Full time 16 year olds-the same number of adult professionals we have in this country...Whereas Possibly 500.000 play Rugby Union in England, Scotland boasts an optimistic 10.000"
Scotland have massive problems to sell tickets for home games at Murrayfield and often games are struggling to sell more than 20.000 except for Ireland and England games. Crowds are lucky to get more than 1000 at the top scottish games even when playing top European teams from England or Wales in the Heineken Cup.

I find some of the ingredients in your humble pie a little tough, as they seem quite past it. Personally, I would take out the old meat in this pie ie dallaglio, as for the chariot; sugar is OK but something this saccherin sweet is a little hard to swallow. For your next pie, I should try (many times I suggest) the strange combination of Lamont and Blair (unusual but a spicy concoction) to make a kickin' pie known as the Paterson pie. You'll want to hadden it time and time again!
See you on the 25th...
