40 years ago, John F. Kennedy implored us to, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."
What have you done for TT?
Well, I had a great social life. Lots of ups and downs. Made me a better person. I have people to reach for when I need them and vice-versa. I know a lot about Munich than majority of the Munchener Kindl here. Credits go to TT, the website.

Well seeing as I'm not in Munich anymore, it's not done a lot in the way of meetup and the like, but it's brought many a smile to my face of "A Smile a Day Keeps the Doctor Away", then I'll never be sick again.

Power!
No, just lots of people with whom to speak English and an insight of how newbies see Munich.

Helped me find english speakers to be friends with, thus giving me a social life here.
Introduced me to my fiancee
Gave me something to do at work while I was just trying to waste time in a job I hated.
Now something to do while I'm hoome during the day.

First job here, first couple of apartments, a bunch of my belongings, a bunch of my friends, somewhere to whinge and/or wind up whingers and far, far too much information about peoples sex lives and other private things that I always read but then wish I hadn't.

It's given me:
1. My closest pal in Munich (no it's not who you think it is and no it's not Rus, either)
2. A job
3. Native English-speaking friends
4. Familiarity with Cockney slang
5. A place to spend the Christmas holidays
Yes, Toytown loves me longtime.

It saved me from the demeaning work at a certain helicopter firm. Introduced me to some Southern Caaaants,

you know who you are and to the different flavours of bubble Gum.

A fine, fine open mic once a month, with Dj's, magicians, musicians, thespians, dancers, and an exquisitely judgmental audience to tell every damned one of them exactly what they thought of their performance.
Oh, and all that other stuff, too. Plus a place to be cranky during the 2004 election season--very important for this Yank.

Well when I joined, it distracted me from my work and encouraged me to go off down the pub afterwards where I made some very good pals.
One of whom whisked me off to Paris last spring to watch the rugby then fly back to Munich, dash to the Arc, watch Ireland vs. England, get talking to a dashing gent sitting with some more of my pals and nearly a year later, I got an Fiskars axe for Christmas.
So, Toytown Munich has enabled me to get an axe for Christmas.
Not a bad deal at all.

TT introduced me to the people that made my 4 months in Munich absolutely great, gave me a great friend, and left me with a distroyed liver.
I never knew I was such a great artist before joining TT survivor, the one that also made me a Poker adict.
I guess that more importantly, I learnt a lot about beers and pubs of a place that was new to me.
But mainly, it made me start using the word "loo" which I love

1. 2 jobs (one of which I still have!)
2. an appearance in a German fashion magazine
3. one of my best friends
4. numerous household goods
5. the feeling that I'm not alone in my strange new town (not so new and certainly not so strange anymore!)
6. confirmed that most people are weird, or mean, or just have nothing better to do

Keep it up, though... cuz it's just darn good reading...

Yep, those ridiculously coloured thread about how somebody has to run more, or go long, or whatever the fuck it was used to crack me up, and provided at least 3 minutes of light amusement.
TT saved me from having to learn krout and integrate with anybody whatsoever. It also provided a crack and half on tuesdays, which used to be ace, but no longer hold much interest.
Quite frankly, now I use Toytown as THE definitive resource on Munich. There is nothing that comes close, not even in the locals strange venacular.

A nice sofa
My local pub (though that might have been there even without, but who knows?)
An updated website
Some business contacts
A bike - is that the most common thing, other than hangovers, so far?
Lots of nice people and some good friends
A trip to Italy
Several excellent, excellent meals and different wines
Tickets and more appreciation to the opera
A suite in a hotel for one night!!
An extremely effective way of killing time.

It gave my business a good kick start when it opened and also ensured that word spread about it in the English speaking community.
On a more personal note - it has helped my social life immensly, and been responsible for many drunken nights out and meeting a lot of great people. Many of whom I regard as good friends.
