So we have the Photography club and the Writers workshop. Is anyone interested in starting up an informal group concerning drawing and painting? It would be on a begining level and all meduims could and should be discussed. I would like to think about meeting once a week maybe every two weeks if needed. There would be no requirement for to join or when to join. Just a love to create. Answer here or send a PM to me. I would like to get this off the ground by Feb 1st.

Nice another TTer pmed me to tell me that they might be interested. Lets give this thread another two days before we decide a first meeting. I would like to throw out as an ideal day as a Sunday, but would be open to anything.

Count me in, I've been painting for 25 years and have found that being around a group of artists helps stimulate the creative juices during the low points.

Haggis junior might be interested, she is quite talented and draws constantly. I'll ask her this eve when I get home.
edit: Definitely interested, even though she remembers meeting perdido on NYE smile.gif

I'd be interested too. I'm completely crap, but I do have a nice box of watercolour pencils which need using.
perdido
Nice I think I do not know half of you which is even better...

i might have some interest in this
daffodil
ohhh, is this 'live model' drawing? I'd love to...
perdido
That would be cool but I think wwe will probably start low key. Also we need to think of a place we could gather at.

Edit: I should also be more specific on who I am and what I would like to accomplish. I have been a photographer for several years, but have always wanted to paint. Hence one of the reasons I am here. So I have been teaching myself to draw and paint.

I would like for this group to get toether to draw/paint together. All the while we can assign ourselves to do projects while outside the group. I think the assignments shall be voluntary and you yourself would decide what to do. That way if you want to submit a peice you can recieve a critque if desired. We could also do live sets or work on projects together( I have alot of ideas on these such things and open to others). The group would also talk on techniques/styles/and influences for all the group to grow from. Let me say this upfront..there would be no pressure to do anything in the group. You could show up when you wanted and just sit and watch if you feel nervous(as long as the group did not mind-I wouldnt care). One possible venue has been volunteered but depending on size of crowd. Also being a photograper I have LOTS of photos hanging around, so I could bring a box for peeps to choose things to draw from if needed.

If NorbOhSoGerman doesn't join this... he'll be missing a marvelous opportunity. He's almost obsessed about drawing and just brought over his new Tablet PC from Toshiba with ArtRage on it and demonstrated his skills and passion. ...And had an impromptu picture taken of him by our very own Andrew, which is now-- after lots of cajoling-- posted on his (otherwise nicht sehr aussagefähiges) profile.

I just might consider offering my place as a gathering for TT artists if it means I get to see Norberto more often. *smile* My kids adore him. They all got artist's sketch books for Christmas from him. And lots of inspiration to pursue drawing.

Perdido, I'd actively recruit this Newbie to your charmed circle. He's probably too darn shy to come out of the woodwork and share his considerable skill. (Maybe you should tempt him with attractive eligible ladies?)
mere
tisk tisk Perdido- blame others for you enjoying yourself on NYE!

@sun-by-- just tell him to come along! he'll be fine and plenty of friendly people will be there (not sure if i will be, but i dont know most of the people who said who'll be there either!)

I think he would do better without my help. Well anyway tell him he is more than invited. So anyone have ideas for a good time or date. I was thinking by next Sunday for sure. Ideas? Ideas?
mere
nope no suggestions... where would let us invade (well you guys since i'm not sure if i can make it or not)?

Well alright two days have passed. So I will plan for the first meeting Sunday 22 Jan@ 17:00. I am thinking maybe Twisted Bavarian as a initial spot. I will call Texas Tornado to see if it is alright with her. She is really cool and open to these things so hopefully yes. If not we will find something.

I was thinking since it is first meeting we should bring a sketch book/pencils/paints whatever to work with. If anyone wants me to I will bring also a box of photos that might be good subject matter. Let this also be said. I am a new painter so do not judge yourself so harshly peeps. I have always gotton good critiques on my photos but I have found my best ideas always came from newbies to photos. When you are new you are willing to try more things and often get great results that inspire others. So all you so called " I am not so good" PMers you are the ones I want to see the most. You are part of the inspiration process. Well anyway I am off soapbox. Alkso if anyone needs my handy number PM me and I will send it forth to keep in touch

cheers

i might drop in

Perdido, there are already 3 events taking place at the Twisted on the 22nd at 17:00. Not that you necessarily shouldn't use that date and time, just something to be aware of. wink.gif
Corbin
Hi Perdido,

Shall we still get together as you have established? Look for the folks with the sketchbooks I guess?

I'm looking forward to it.

All the Best
perdido
@Corbin

Remember not this Sunday but next Sunday. 22 Jan.
Bubble Gum
I will be out of town so won't be able to make it.
perdido
You're always out of town! Well anyway we still need to get coffee and catch up.
perdido
Alright just talked to Texas Tornado she is all cool for us meeting there. I also want to mention if we want I can bring a couple of Polaroids along to photograph each other and use this as a project draw/painting. let me know what you think and do not be afraid to post your ideas. So for the record I will bring the following to use and show:

Caran D Arche water color crayons. These things are one word "Juicy"
Prisma water color pencils- nice pencils to touch up watercolor prints
Caran D Arche guoche set. Nice chalky look to a print(colors very vibrant)
Schminke water color set. This is current fave. I love the way the color bleeds on paper(cold press).
Some assorted Faber Castell water color pencils.
(polaroid cameras if needed)

Sunday 22 Jan@ 5PM
Tengstrasse 20, Schwabing, Munich

I have a box of the Caran D Arche water color crayons - they are yummy looking.

I'm coming back from skiing that Sunday, but legs willing I'll be there.
perdido
I know first meeting is next week but will probably be in today at the Twisted around 16:00 for some sketching and beer. If you are in Schwabing come on in to say hello.
noisette
hello! i am moving to munich this upcoming weekend... i am very interested... is it too late to join in on the fun?
perdido
@noisette

Of course it is not too late to join.

So I talked to Dory Sunday and she is all cool with us coming in to the Twisted bavarian the 22 Jan. So bring sketch books, paints, pencils, and your biggest attitude to the TB. I wll also like for those who think they can show up to PM me ahead so I can give Dory an idea on how many bodies will be there. So the forum that day will be open to what each of wants to accomplish ahead or get out of this workshop. I also strongly encourage all begginers to show up. I look forward to meeting you all

Perdido

Well a little follow up. Sunday Texas Tornado let me borrow a book from the Twisted's libraray Childrens Art from Frederking & Thaler. It is very immpressive. I will bring it to the workshop for all to see. I especially think those that doubt their ability should look at it. Simple movement creating grandiose feelings...it is very inspiring. What i am trying to say is that an exact copy of your subject it does not make you a good artist. It is the minds interpretation and how you translate that over to your art that makes you a great artist.
Anyway i will bring it.
ayalavar
I would love to stop by, join the fun smile.gif Hope it is not too late.
perdido
Nope not too late. See you Sunday
Jerry
I do painting with Chinese techniques on pretty existential subjects, just for fun. Anyone like to discuss this?
perdido
Not here but discuss at Sunday meeting if you would like...
Jerry
in Twisted Bavarian?
perdido
Yes and Ms Topsy will be one room over all the more reason to show up.
Jerry
Sounds cool. I'll come and check it out
perdido
This will happen tommorow at 17:00 at the TB. Also I am thinking of going to the musuem of modern art around 2:30 if I become free. PM me if you are interested in coming along. It should only cost 1€ on Sunday.
sarabyrd
Louisa enjoyed herself lots, considering that she wanted to chicken out at 4 pm. Thanks for making her comfortable.
perdido
Ah man that was a nice meet up and lasted longer than I thought it would. I t was cool to see everyone jump in and agree to draw together that last hour. I still leave the challenge open to all to do the self portrait and bring it in two weeks time. It was also cool see and meet some new peeps ie jerry, Tom17, Jim, Louisa, Rich. It was also nice to see the writers join us and thank you Howard for your drawings of the artist drawing nice perspective.

So next meeting two Sunday from now at the TB. The group is still open to more people that want to join and I again reinterate begginers are especially welcome. Tom17 was the hardest on himself and he had some great work. So I now leave the floor mtom suggestions.
Corbin

I think our next scheduled one is Sunday 5/02/06 at twisted b at 17:00. I have added it to the calender but I will today. As for today I will not be able to make it but others can do it and have fun.

Creativity belongs to the artist in each of us. To create means to relate. The root meaning of the word art is "to fit together" and we all do this every day. Not all of us are painters be we are all artist. Each time we fit things together we are creating -whether it is to make a loaf of bread, a child, a day. That is why people listen to music or look at paintings. To get in touch with that wholeness
