don't know if i'm the first to find this , but i just thought i would let everyone know that i have found Tetley tea in my local Spar today - black tea in four different flavours (mixed fruits, apple/pear, peach etc.) You can also get Jordens Country Crisp cereal as well!!
Inflatablewoman
And your local spar would be where? Grimsby?
Topsy
Tetley Tea shouldn't taste of flippin peach, anyway.
That's just wrong.
Grinner
But this isnt standard English Black tea is it..?
gideon
topsy, tetly went posh and started doing fruit jobs too.
tetley, diddle liddle deee.

Tetleys is Yorkshire, and Yorkshire folk don't sup peach tea (unless they are posh and from Harrogate).
UrbanAngel
Yes, Spar has had these for a while, also Tetley Earl Grey tea.
Topsy

Grinner
Piss off! laugh.gif

Statterlite fitters too!
gideon

chicken pie
my spar is in Sendling laugh.gif

I have also found the original Tetley PG tips - and other stuff: McV Ginger biscuits, Birds custard, Marmite, tropical fruit juice (not the horrible german multi vitamin stuff, but the lovely UK chemical stuff!) etc in the Asia shop next to HIT (they also have a tiny USA section) on the Elsenheimerstr.

I must be "builders" of the IT world then.. PG all the way!

(only since it has replaced my coke addiction though)
gideon
IT are builders without the white vans.
Tim Hortons Man
don't know what the difference is, but Twinnings tea purchased in Germany is not as good as Twinnings purschased in England. I spend extra have it shipped from the UK
benzinrot
YOu will find Tetley tea in all forms , bags, leaves etc., in the passage at Hauptbahnhof railway station. Sorry that I cant remember the name of the shop, but its owned and run by Indians and is right next to the shop where they sell pasta and so on.

They also sell the PG tips that you speak about too which incidentally is my personal favourite.

But then, Im from somewhere where it doesnt count... laugh.gif and we will drink almost anything!
Topsy
You can get proper Tetley or PG Tips in most of the Indian shops that are scattered about over the city.
None of that peach muck, though - thank god
jellyone
I prefer my Tetley in 500ml cans, and it doesnt taste bitter to me. aaahhh the taste of home

That is simply because tea in Germany in general is complete crap. Even the German made English brand tea.

ORDER IT FROM ENGLAND!
JMA15
That explains a lot - I wondered why the twinings I bought here was as bad as Mesmer. PG tips all the way for me, although in an emergency Jackson's of Picadilly English breakfast is good (Kaufhof) not cheap of course but when you gotta have tea...
taffy
well, i know you can go into any asian shop and buy PGtips. There is an english shop in Isartor. If you prefer irish tea you can go to John's Corner shop in Schwabing.
chicken pie
@taffy. which english shop is at Isator???
UrbanAngel
Hmm I know there's an Irish shop sort of near Isartor (not really, but it's on that side of town on/near Muellerstrasse).
coolerking
any updates where to buy english teabags now that the irish johns shop has closed
Topsy
indian shops

another one bites the dust. shame that they were nice folks in there, but the concept just never seems to work here somehow.
Uncle Nick
@coolerking: the Asian shop on the Donnersbergerstr. has PG Tips
mulah
Does John's Corner Shop sell them? Do I have to go all the way into Munich?

We're down to our last three bags and I still haven't put in an order - DOH!

(Not that I'm getting desperate. . .)

Not sure where you are, and if Tetley is an absolute requirement, but nearly all of the Asia-Markt shops sell PG Tips. I got some at Rotkreuzplatz the other day, and we used to get them next to Hit in Elsenheimerstr. until the shop closed.
Katrina
John's Corner Shop is no more - try an Asian/Indian store as mentioned above.
mulah
Hmm, not a fan of PG Tips but will try looking in some local asian shops

Thanks

I used to buy mine from there when I lived in Taxisstrasse. I have heard from English Mike who lives in Bag Tölz that there's a Russian market in Wolfratshausen whichsells proper tea bags.

I am also on my last packet of tea bags. Will have to lay out a white cross on the lawn and wait for the RAF to airdrop some emergency rations in.-
Yeti
Bag Tolz?

Sounds dangerous.
Katrina
Could post you some PG, Jezza? A box of Barry's Tea (the red, always the red) teethstainer will be mine next week and I must admit that I like that better so I could spare the PG.
Boba
Saw Tetley's in Edeka at the weekend in Ebersberg. Maybe they have it in other stores too?
mulah
I'll try my local Edeka (Neuaubing) and if I don't find any there, I guess I'll be driving over to Ebersberg tomorrow.

Thanks Boba!

Tetley Tea Bags from Pomeroy & Winterbottom - Isarvorstadt http://www.pomeroy-winterbottom.de/
Mik Dickinson
Aye but the price he charges you could get gold cheaper
mulah
I've been to two Edeka's now, with no joy.

Ho hum.
trudering_indian
I suppose they are available at the Indian/Asian shops around Karlplatz. "PG Tips" fore sure and many other British tea brands.
madgibson
I'm afraid I still buy my Tetley teabags from UK after 15yrs of living here (or get whoever is home to bring some) ...never seen them anywhere here before except for an extortionate price in P&W. True that PG tips are available in asian stores...still better than German teabags though.
Jay
I just ordered a 240 pack of Tetley's teabags this week via an online shop for EUR10.39. Probably 4 or 5 euros more than you would pay in the UK but a small price to pay for a taste of home. (Still would prefer the alcoholic version. smile.gif )
