hi,

i just wanted to say thank God for "Sticky Fingers". I don't know what I'd have done without it. Being an expat and being a first time mum in Munich, Sticky Fingers saved my life. Sticky Fingers was a brilliant playcentre for my kids to meet and mix with other English speaking kids. It was the perfect place to come to for a chat with other first time mums like myself in order to share information, birth experiences and all the initial traumas that come when entering motherhood. Since my son was neither ever accepted into any Kinderkrippe I had the opportunity to remain coming to Sticky Fingers for 3 consecutive years and my kids loved it. Sticky Fingers was also the perfect place to come to during the long cold winter months when there was nowhere else to take my kids.

I've come to know Lara really well over the years and I finally want to add that despite being a busy mum of 2 kids herself, she has worked extremely hard to build such a haven for English speaking kids.

Keep up the good work Lara and good luck with your new preschool venture.

Well done!

rmjk.

i am new to this forum and am just about to move to hallbergmoos munich with my husbands work. i came across the sticky bob group from the the information list on Toytown, i have just sent an email to them and have been sent an application form, all very efficient so far and helpful. i have a 1year old son and am keen to get out to play groups and other fun activities also to meet other english speaking mums as i have no command of german yet or support network.

Greetings all!

I am the music teacher at Sticky Fingers, and must say that I enjoy the groups that I have had and have at this moment. The premises are great, and we have lots of fun during the lessons. So, I hope to see you soon!

does anyone have comments about the Saturday (morning) sessions? Would the music program also be suitable for a 4 1/2 year (website says no).. but still ?

How's the dad session? Any details on what goes on?

I'm looking to have some kind of English language exposure for my kid - was thinking this might be an option.

I might be interested in a Dads session although it's quite a long way to come.

I have a 2 and a half year old and a four and a half year old. Both boys. They both speak German but understand English. My eldest is starting to talk a bit more English. I was at Jeremy's yesterday and there was a marked improvement just in three hours of talking to another child who talked mainly English.

Outside of any formal session I'm more than happy to come up and spend an afternoon with anybody who has children about the same age. Particularly the 2 and a half year old doesn't really have any good friends so I'd really like him to meet more kids his own age.

Daddy's Day session is taking place this Saturday October 20th from 10-12 at Sticky Fingers
I am hosting it (Lara Kroll), and the main aim of this session has always been to offer a place for International Dad's to spend quality time with their little ones, whilst in most instances Mum's get a much needed morning off!

During the session I offer songtime, puzzle time and playtime. The Dad's enjoy networking in English, spending one-on-one quality time with their children, and swapping notes on being a Dad with other new parents!

If you are interested in coming along, the session costs 10 Euros including taxes, and includes refreshments. Email me at lara@stickyfingers-munich.com or call me on 089 864 66118.
Thanks Lara

Having said that, I am yet to turn away a Daddy! We always get a few who turn up on the day and the more the merrier! Especially in this nasty cold weather!
Maybe we will see you tomorrow!

Sticky Fingers is now offering English 4 Fun for all children 3 to 6 (native and non-native speakers) on Tuesdays from 3.15 to 5.15. This is a fun way to help native speakers have an English outlet outside the home and to work on their native language skills. For our non-native speakers, it creates an immersion atmosphere where they can learn and improve their English in a fun age appropriate way.

If you are interested in a free-trial please give me a call!

Our fabulous ballet instructor Yella is offering, especially for Sticky Fingers, a great 10 week dance program starting on Friday May 30 from 4-5pm.

Ballet is a great way to help children become more aware of how their bodies move and train their coordination. It is not just for girls either!! Your children will love the playful approach to dance which includes such fun activities as being a fireman, rescuing cats from trees and pretending to be a variety of wild animals. Suitable for children age 3 to 6, native and non-native speakers.

To reserve your space please contact me, as participation is limited.

On May 21 at 8pm, Sticky Fingers will be offering How to read with your child and not to your child

Reading books with children is an important tool for increasing your child’s vocabulary, language and concentration skills. “But my child doesn’t like books.” We will be offering some tips and tricks to get even the most book allergic children interested. No child is too young or too old to reap the benefits of reading. So bring along one of your books from home and we will show you what you need to do to make reading fun, enjoyable and a learning experience for your child, as well as providing tips on how to select age appropriate materials.

Paula Kerry from Usborne Books will be set up all week from May 19-23 and you will even be able to purchase books at the talk on Wednesday night.

This talk is free for all Sticky Fingers Members and cost EUR 7,-- for non-members.

Although registration is not necessary, it is appreciated.

Hope to see you there!
Kathy
