Potting soil for herbs

Where to buy

I would like to repot my basil plant that I bought, but am having a hard time finding potting soil and fertilizer for it. I went to Schlecker and Hertie and they have only potting soil for houseplants and flowers, which I thought has a different concentration of something or another. In the states, I usually buy potting soil w/compost for vegetables, but don't know if that's something that's available. I also would like to find seed starting soil too.

OBI or Dehner
somewhere like that

Garden centre? Maybe

Seebauer in Ottobrunner Str., if you happen to live nearby (no U-Bahn, 95 Bus route direction Perlach) or a long walk from Innsbrucker Ring, is expensive but has good reputation. They have some beautiful plants plus a café upstairs under the roof, with roof terrace in summer. Ok, but tends to be overrun by wealthy Bavarians. Dehners' is cheaper - a small one in Viktualienmarkt, bigger one in Schmückerweg, Trudering plus others.

avoid seebauer, its overpriced. but for basil you could use the houseplant soil it'll be fine, just make sure you place gravel at the bottom of the pot to keep it drained.

@ gideon Correct - Seebauer's expensive, but their stuff is good quality.

planzen ries in martinsreid is much better for quality and price, but only reachable by car.

Whereas all the other nurseries are really just overrun by those impoverished Hessians? I mean, really, what do you expect?

Seebauer is really quite expensive - any old OBI or other Baumarkt should stock specialty soils. Our Praktiker certainly does. I particularly like the cemetery soil in tidy, funereal black.
