Anyone been to Arlette Schwörbel? Does she speak English? I've been to three gynos in the last few years and need to find one I like in West Schwabing or near
Universität. Any suggestions?

Does Dr Teicher still take all insurances private and public?
Why not call to find out?

I posted that before the opening time!!! Asking questions is also the purpose of this forum oder???
Yes they do take private and public, the receptionist was really nice on the phone.

Yeah, Dr. T takes both, and I have seen him while on Kasse and now on Private, and have not noticed a difference on how he treats his patients. I have seen him for years, and still think he is the best in the city and speaks 3 languages- German, French and English.

One of my work colleagues has an identical twin brother that is a gynecologist and when he is occasionally in Munich he does personal house visits for my girlfriend. He must be meticulous - he spends ages in her room with her. I can send you his number.

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend an ob/gyn in the Munich area where patients are given gowns to wear at their appointments? Also, is it true that the exam table is different in some way in Germany (compared to the US)?
Thanks in advance!

I do not know of anyplace that uses gowns! I usually just wear a longer tshirt/blouse for my appointment, they do the bottom exam, then you dress and they do the top exam.

Same here. I also always wear a long top so that I feel less exposed during the exams. Some places have a chair that keeps one's legs astride but most places have normal exam tables.

Dr. Teicher is very understanding of the modesty and will give you paper to drape around yourself but the long Tshirt is probably a better option. I didn't even ask and he offered on my first visit.

Thanks for the info! Also, I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone (by posting or by PM/personal message) who is overweight regarding your experiences seeing ob/gyns here and whether you can recommend a particular ob/gyn here who is supportive, comfortable to see, etc. (including with respect to the prospect of getting pregnant while being overweight--something that doesn't faze my doctor in the U.S., but I'm worried about finding someone here--yes, I know I should lose weight).

Just want to add yet another recommendation for Dr. Hilderscheid. I got my first appointment with her the week after I called, so no long wait there.
Dr. Hilderscheid was very good, she listened to me, explained everything very clearly, and was understanding. She was gentle during the examination and was not averse to answering questions.
There are complaints on this thread about her billing: I haven't received my bill yet, so I cannot tell for certain, but they (Dr. and nurse) always asked me before starting a test or examination. Do you want a pap smear? Do you want a blood test? Do you want yet another test?
Two thumbs up from me!

Over the past few months I have had two gyno's act in a very condescending manner toward me. The first one was presumably because my German is still on the beginner level (just moved here...) and the second one because I've had an abortion in my recent past. Yesterday I went to a gyno for a problem I was having and she didn't even examine me, implying I was overreacting to my symptoms. I only received a lecture about my past abortion and was sent on my way. Can anyone recommend a Frauenarzt in central Munich who will provide good, thorough care in spite of my language limitations and past decisions? I am on public health insurance. Thank you for any help you can provide.

I go to Dr. Teicher, he is on Weinstr right by Bohne and Malz, i have never had problems with him, and he always takes the time to talk and never judges... and I have asked him some really, well, interesting questions.

Dr. Harald Korth,
Baaderstrasse 80, is very nice, absolutely non-judgemental and speaks at least some English.
Website He's a much better gyno than he is a website designer

since the phone number isn't on the website - 089/2011101.

I found and saw Dr.Hilderscheid some weeks ago through this site. I had 2 uncomfortable points. I made an appointment because I had pains. The receptionist required me to show my ID. Dr.Hilderscheid asked the following 6 questions before the examinations.
1, my nationality
2, the city's name where I was born
3, the date when I applied my visa
4, the date when my visa will be expired
5, my hight
6, my weight
I answered everything, she wrote down my answers on a margin of my medical chart like a police officer. This was the 1st uncomfortable point.
She examined my body, it was normal, no uncomfortable/rude points.
The 2nd one was my invoice. It contained unknown items. I asked Dr.Hilderscheid to explain these items by email, by phone and by meeting. When I met her in respect of this invoice, she was upset and repeated that she needs to charge them. Finally she said "You are not rich!" It was not the right answer for invoice obviously. But also obvious that she is in a bad mood, I gave up asking explanations. After I(my health insurance company) paid everything properly, her receptionist contacted me to urge payment. Even if it was either the receptionist's or their computer's mistake, it's rude for me. I'm looking for other doctor(s).
