also from the same article comparing the respective capabilities :-
QUOTE
One must bear in mind that the full details of the simulation have not been released, making it hard to verify whether it gives an accurate evaluation of the capabilities of these aircraft (for instance, whether they had adequate knowledge of the Sukhoi and Raptor to realistically simulate their combat performance). Another problem with the study is the scenarios under which the combat took place are unclear; it is possible that they were deliberately or accidentally skewed to combat scenarios that favoured certain aircraft over others;
Bottom line is the first time you know how good your toys are is when you get to pit them against someone elses unless of course you have the advantage of Tom Cruise flying " inverted "

What you forgot to quote was that was no way intended to be official because of the lack of information available on the latest aircraft...
Indeed, that was in the link though (cuz there's LOTS of it!):

Blasphemy! It's gorgeous:
You've got a picture of it from it's good side, with all it's make-up on and nice lighting. I agree with the previous comment on it's ugliness, especially front on.

I am going to get a heart attack soon. Just had another one, sounded as if it was actually breaking the sound barrier in the ceiling above my head.
Edit: I should point out that I am 40kms away in Freising. So if I'm having a heart attack and Hutcho has car alarms going off, then I think we can appreciate the area that one of these booms covers. Still, I'm sure the pilot is having fun.

Was very quiet here in Riem.. But it was cool cos this time I announced to the entire office "sonic boom coming" and we all sat around waiting for it for about 10 secs.
Good times
So TT also acts as an early warning system!

We could almost figure out the flight path if we had more exact times. If STB heard it in Freising, then I did at about 1544..etc. I wonder how long it´d take to fly from above STB´s house in Freising to over Munich...Pretty damn fast...not altogether a "peaceful easy feelin" sound on the ground though!

I didn't bother with the link, but I'm kinda amazed that they advertise their planes, I would've thought that the person in the market for a hi-tech fighter plane would know everything there is to possibly know about them. I guess it is plausible that some chap in charge of an air force gets wowed by the bright lights and cool soundtrack and decides to go for a EuroFighter over a Raptor or whatever they're called

Looks to be more geared towards the general web-site audience and anoraks. Makes a change from techy stuff though. Fun if you've got the PC Oomph to run it.

I have heard them often in Fuerstenfeldbruck and shook the building... just thought it was maybe a quarry or the soldiers at Fliegerhorst exploding something... guess it must have been Sonic Booms then...

"Wenn ein Polizeiauto auf der Strasse steht , ist es wohl klar dass kein Auto vorbei kommt" is what this German bitch replied. I answered that she had obviously not registered that
a. the war's over and
b. Germany lost
and she immediately ran away screaming some shit about "Aufstand" and "Hilfe" and I couldn't believe the taxi driver quickly pulled back his car, did a powerslide to get in the next side street and drove me home saying "You're right – Germans haven't comprehended that the war is over and they lost".

At work we are in the process of moving offices to a different building and so there has been some banging going on with the removals guys and everytime theres a real loud bang they all think its the removals guys and no one would believe me that it was a sonic boom even after showing them this post. Now the removals guys are gone and of course, there are still happening and so finally my colleagues are starting to believe me and not think that Im mad!

I was only wondering if that was REALLY what it is - since it seems to be happening so often. (I grew up near mine blasting, which felt oddly similar to what I felt today). But if someone really saw the jet stream them I'm happy..
