Such loud bangs also happen when too many girls lose virginity within a short period of time. You know, release of all that energy at once and all. Its Christmas time and there is lot of love in the air so you never know.

Did not notice yesterday, but heard it in Oberföhring today. Quickly opened the window in the event it was followed by fire (not morbid, just realistic)

Actually I did the same thing

Was like 'What was that? hmmm...oh well'. I was more annoyed that it actually woke me up and I could feel my throat pain again

Benpanther are u seriously asking why i opened the window??? What would you do if you are in a building and suspect fire whithout knowing whether or not this fire could actually be in other parts of the building??? Going under the bed only works if there is actually a bed...none in my office. My first instinct would be to move away from the fire...maybe through the window (believe it or not!)

Dec 14 2005, 3:24 pm
Yes, I was seriously asking why you opened the window. It was somewhat unclear from your first post whether you thought the fire was inside or outside, and what you were going to gain by opening the window. Thank you for explaining.

C'mon now, you know that "sonic booms" are really some sort of sonic mind control which is emitted from US military bases in their relentless fight against terror. Supersonic planes, pffft! Reality check man, everyone knows you die if you go faster than the speed of sound

Cos he just wants an arguement...
Eurofighter has permissin to break the sound barrier, only during essensial testing excersises.. This can include pilot training.
the only people that need to be informed are other local air authorities..
In this case, Munich, Nürnberg, Augsberg and Salzberg.. All Millitary basses will be inform internally.

Cos sonic booms are just a weird explanation... it really does sound like a science fiction cartoon not real life.
It also sounds really odd that they would do test flights so close to a massive city.
Also correct me if I'm wrong but did they not used to wait until over the atlantic before going supersonic on concorde so as to not disturb the londoners / NYers.
What is to stop them doing the test flights over the sea? That way no one is disturbed / shits themselves and in the unlikely event of our test flight losing cabin pressure... it doesn't crash into a pleasant suburb of munich.

when travelling at over Mach 1 ( approx 750 mph at sea level ), it would need to be a bloody big lake !
testing has to be done over varying landscapes to explore the aircraft's flight envelope including terrain following radar performance
as said elsewhere in the thread it is usually done in remote areas like certain parts of Scotland etc
Pirulero
Dec 14 2005, 6:09 pm
the other part of the thread said off the east COAST of scotland...so NOT over certain parts of scotland, rather around it...
