Okay, so my German's passable, at best, but, being fed up with my English reading choices, I decided to try my luck with something German, and was pleasantly surprised that Die Weisse Massai has remarkably simple German -- she writes in the present tense, doesn't have the usual horridly complicated sentence structure, the vocabulary isn't that hard, and, since she's speaking English in the story, she keeps a lot of the shorter snippets of dialog in English. Granted, it's getting repetitive by now, but I'm still very pleased with myself to be reading a real German book.

Anyway -- what should I try next? Anyone else stumble across any other easy reads?
