I found this at WFMU'S Beware of the Blog

Charlie and His Orchestra, was a Nazi big band assembled by Hitler's minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels.

QUOTE
Charlie and His Orchestra was led by Karl Schwendler, an English speaking German who broadcast Nazi-themed swing and big-band hits every night on the medium-wave and short-wave bands throughout the 1930s to Canada, the US and Britain. Leave it to Goebbels to take the music of The Andrews Sisters, Paul Whiteman and Irving Berlin and fill it with venomous rants against Jews, America and the British.

You can download volume one and volume two directly from WFMU's blog if you are interested.

Particularly interesting, though, is Goebbel's speech about propaganda which gives you something to think about when you compare his message with today's political climate and the role of big media and big business in our politics and news.

I should also mention that I may have already killed this thread in the first post by making a Reductio ad Hitlerum - at least according to Godwin's law, of which this post seems to be a minimal case.

I find that funny, I thought Jazz music and Swing in particular was banned in the 1000 year Reich, on account of the color of the skin of the people who invented it.

this was for non-german consumption/propaganda only. It was not to be played within the Reich.
