So a couple of weeks ago I finally got a dish set up with my Sky box and promptly ordered NASN. I thought I was just in time for the bowl season but now I have come to find out that NASN only broadcasts regular season games and not the post-season (i.e. the bowls).

The only alternative I can think of is ESPN's game plan but as of yesterday they had not announced a schedule for the bowl season (if they'll be showing anything at all).

Does anyone know if there's another alternative?

As a UT grad and a die-hard Longhorn fan, I have to watch the National Championship!!!
eurovol
Wow, another Volunteer! But why would you want to watch the Longhorns? blink.gif
Ketchup
Ahh. You're referring to the team from Knoxville that went 5-6 this year and lost to the perennial college football power that is Vanderbuilt. Funny, I didn't see that UT on the bowl schedule this year... wink.gif
eurovol
I think we're playing in the Tidy Bowl. sad.gif

For anbody that missed it: VU vs. UTn.

wink.gif You gotta let me - 1st time we've beaten Tennessee at Neyland in my lifetime!

Wow, just read that announcement on NASN's homepage. I too have NASN at home and was looking forward to watching the bowl season!
carrrrie
Longhorns? Cha. One of the only teams that will actually make me cheer for USC. Anyone figured out how to watch bowl games yet? I'd like to catch a few of them.
Hazza
What bowl games and when are they on?

I will see if I can show them at The Arc.
perdido
Well National Championship is 4 Jan at 8 PM Easter so that is 2 AM local time. So we would have to gather at least 15 peeps there I think...right Hazza?

Alright see this post
Rose Bowl - American football
Hazza
4 Jan is a weekend, right?

If so, then we'll probably be open anyway - especially for the start of it. But if you get people to come along for the game, then it's a safer bet for you.
ami58
Well here's the poor man's way...

If you and a friend "back home" both have a flat-rate DSL line and the friend has a decent webcam and a mic, you could always watch the game over the internet. Did it last year for the Rose Bowl and it was OK... like watching the game at the pub through a smoky haze, but good enuf.

BBC Sports and Premier have both had the Super Bowl in previous years, but I don't think they do NCAA.
Hazza
We have ways and means of getting NCAA games live at The Arc...

USC vs. Notre Dame - 25/26.Nov.2006

This football game is very important for me! It will be played at 2am Sunday, 26 November, Munich time.

Is there a Sports Bar or other where USC or Notre Dame football fans can go to see it?

I am still in Beverly Hills and will fly to Munich on 22 November.

FIGHT ON! tongue.gif

eurovol
I feel sorry for you. Anyone that thinks USC versus ND is soo important obviously doesn't have a life. tongue.gif

Go Vols! Oh yeah, go Razorbacks-beat those Gators!
perdido
The game time if I am correct is 2 AM here. You will have to PM hazza or the arc to see if they will be able to play it and if they can stay open the three hours of game time which is quite possible. I know also that there is often a rebroadcast a few hours later so your chances are better off that way.

It helps if you can get some bodies to show up that night to guarantee it to stay open if you really wish to see it live. We got about twenty bodies in last year to see Texas/USC for national championship. Hazza is a good guy so just PM him.
eurovol
You could also see if it is online via video or audio. This reminds me, they have moved the Eagles v. Colts game to 2:15am Monday the next day. It was supposed to be at 7pm our time. Damn flex scheduling.
Anwalt
UM vs. OSU, No. 1 and No. 2 playing on Sat., Nov. 18 @ 9PM

Anyone getting together to watch this game. I'm assuming that the Arc will have it available?
perdido
Damn I want to see this game but cannot. I have to root for the Wolverines just because of what Ohio did to Texas and my man Anwalt is from there.
newsgirl
The ARC should be showing Michigan v. Ohio State on Saturday at 9:30pm our time. I know because my girlfriend called, and the bartender agreed its the biggest college football game of the day. So a few of us Michigan fans will be there Saturday night, wearing maize and blue. Hope to see you there. GO BLUE! smile.gif
Anwalt
Yep, I'm a born and bred Michigander, so I guess I'll be rooting for the Wolverines Saturday night.

Even more shocking to me is a 3-loss team in the top 25 = Tennessee. Commentators are saying this is a sure sign of parity in the best programs.

BTW, let us not forget that USC is No. 3 in the BCS poll, which for those who don't know, is the one that counts which team plays in which bowl game.

Yeah, whatever. With the passing of Bo Schembechler, most of us are pausing to honor him, and to refrain from useless pissing contests. I am quite sure you will agree that tomorrow's game will possibly be the most watched game in the history of college sports.

Good luck, and good night!

This game will be overflowing with emotion now. I always hated it when Schembechler came to town with the Fichigan Wolverines. I hated it because it was so damned hard to beat him. RIP.

Meanwhile, I am beginning to despair that anyone is interested in joining me for the Notre Dame-USC game.

I don't think it is available on the internet, aside from quarterly updates.

Replays are not of interest to me.

Ah well, so be it!

FIGHT ON! anyhow

Tn beat Vandy 39-10 and Michigan just scored, so 7-0 Michigan over OSU in the first.
eurovol
Now it is OSU 35 and Michigan 24. Looks like neither team has any defense whatsoever.

A little help and Arkansas is playing for the Championship. I can't believe it, the first year I am gone and they are playing great ball.

Off to root for California against USC.
eurovol
They got to beat Florida first and then they are in. I will be rooting for Cal too. Makes TN look better and of course I think most the other conference leaders are over rated and they usually are. wink.gif
eurovol
Michigan scored and now its 35-31 OSU and there is a whole quarter to go.
dolfan
The other conferences are definitely overated!

Bah. Bah I say to you justusla. nicely done

Thank you (taking a bow)

NOW is anyone interested in watching USC pummel Notre Dame with its superior DEFENSE (an element of football not in evidence at the OSU-Michigan game). The fact the Trojans have allowed only two touchdowns (one of them tainted by the referee's call), three field goals, and one safety, or a total of 25 points in 13 quarters (over three games) is proof positive that the USC Trojans could beat either Ohio State or Michigan at this critial point in the season.

And what's more: Pete Carroll, the head coach, has never lost in the month of November, the USC Trojans have won 32 straight home games and over a span of 53 games, the team has never scored less than 21 points.

FIGHT ON! ph34r.gif
eurovol
Remember, this year they are going to have a championship game of the top two winners following the Bowl games. At least that is what my father told me.
justusla
That is correct. The win by the Trojans yesterday clinched the Pac-10 Conference title, their fifth conference championship in a row (never before accomplished by any team), and now, if they can win the final two games, they should be the choice to play against the Ohio State Buckeyes for the National Championship.

Yesterday, we learned that Ohio State has no defense. Defense wins championships.

FIGHT ON!
biggrin.gif
eurovol
You are assuming that OSU will actually win their Bowl game against Florida/Arkansas and that USC will beat Notre Dame.
justusla
What do you mean? OSU won their conference by beating Michigan (barely) yesterday. They do not have a Bowl game against Florida/Arkansas. They do not have any games remaining until the National Championship game in January. But you are correct (as I wrote earlier), USC must beat both Notre Dame and UCLA. After our wins over Oregon and Cal, we are feeling a lot better about the future for our team.
eurovol
I don't think you understand, the winners of the top two bowl games will then play each other in the NC game. That is what was implemented this year if what I am told is true. The winner of the SEC will in all probability be the number 2 team in the BCS poll. Winning the SEC championship game adds a lot of weight to the winner's standing. OSU will have to win their bowl game and then the NC game which I don't think they can do with no D.
dorman143
@ eurovol: I don't think there is a NC game in the works this year. The National Championship game will be the bowl game between Ohio State and whomever... whomever being anyone BUT Notre Dame, hopefully. (I represent Penn State.)

Agree that the amazing lack of defense between two tough Big Ten teams was shocking to watch. Entertaining game nonetheless... would love to see the rematch at a neutral site for the Nat'l Championship.

Then my father had it wrong. They have simply created a separate bowl game this year for the NC game. Well, in that case, it will be OSU vs. Florida and USC will play Michigan in the Rose while Arkansas will play in the Sugar. Or not?

Well not to rain on your parade justula, but did not Oregon State defeat USC? Did they not give up 33 points to Oregon State ( a lowly Oregon State at that). Is not Ohio State still undefeated? These are simple facts but still facts. I also believe defense wins you games but I do recall last year a certain individual defeating a certain team in the national championship. The same team that was going to show that same individual a real defense. So please take things in perspective. I for once and only once will say SEC is a better conference this year than the Pac 10.

Well, eurovol, I understand your loyalty to the over-rated SEC conference, but there is one ugly fact that you are ignoring, and that is USC's total domination of SEC-West Conference leading Arkansas at the beginning of the season. Add to that the fact that SEC-East Conference leading Florida beat up on a nothing team (the mighty Western Carolina Catamounts) yesterday while USC was ultimately dominating over a ranked team. Excuses can be made about those facts, but the BCS will definitely remember, and make USC No. 2 later today, and if USC finishes by winning their last two games, they will play Ohio State for the National Championship

Thanks for the good wishes. Our team learned a lot by that defeat at Oregon State (an away game). If a defeat every 30 or so games is healthy, then you have to accept the huge turnaround that the Trojans made as a result of that game. Their team had been that even being far behind didn't mean they were going to lose, but lose they did. By 2 points on a failed 2-point conversion play (and who knows what would have happened in overtime, but that's beyond the point). Ohio State is undefeated, true, and are such because Michigan just ran out of time - or as the cliché goes, in a game like that, the team with the ball at the end of the game should win. The OSU defense was revealed to be a sham (as was Michigan's by the way). By comparison, the Trojan's defense was shown to be great.

In addition, USC managed to win its fifth consecutive conference title, an achievement never before reached by any team.

I will restate the maxim: great defenses win championships. Bring on Ohio State and we'll be delighted to play them.
