Long term visit to Munich

Hello, I just found this site today and from reading some of the post it is a wealth of information (even some of the rude responses are funny). Anyway, I could use some help from some US expats. I would like to do an extended visit to Munich from June 2004 - December 2004. I have found a site for housing (Mr. Lodge). Has anyone had any experiance with this company? Also I am interested in any helpful information anyone can provide to me as to any necessary documents, VISA's, registrations, etc.

I have visited Munich many times but have never stayed for more then a week or two, so any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey, welcome.
There is a little 'search' button above that worked wonders for me. These topics have been much exausted in the recent months.

Mr. Lodge is the only company like itself around. They charge 114% of one month's rent as their fee, (for a 6 month contract) due up to two weeks after they house you. They did great with us.

Post your story about moving to Germany for an informative thread.

You could also check out Liz Frey Relocation. I went through Mr Lodge, and they were good. Got it all sorted before I even arrive in Munich. Their appartments are more pricey though. I suppose it´s not such a big deal if you are only over here for 6 months.

The Mitwohnzentral have a good searchable database of properties, including furnished, and have web pages in English. They will faciltate rooms from a week onwards, and appartments from 4 weeks on. They have a structured commision of 25% for the first month, 15% per month following, but never more than a month in total.

If you want to go up-market take a look at TSC Immobilien who cater for the higher end of the market, especially around Starnberg
