I am off to Kirchberg in the Tirol tonight..
Paul Shevington is the guy who runs this hotel, he is an Aussie or NZer...
I beleive theer is train that goes from Munich to Kitzbhül (SP) which stops in the village of Kirchberg.
Good luck

Spitzingsee is a really nice place, not too crowded etc. You can get there by train and bus fairly easily.

Seefeld is very easy to get to & not far. From the train station, it's like 5/10 min walk to the slope. Also great for beginners.

I am not sure if all these resorts people are recommending are actually open yet. I am going on the
SportScheck bus to Stubai on Sunday. There are 5 of us going so far and it will probably end up as more. It leaves from Donnersbergerbrücke at 6am (!!) and costs €59 inc Ski pass. It normally costs €49, but this event is a "testivel" (sic.) and if you test the gear at one of the stands and fill in a form they give you a €20 Gutschein for the shop...

I am going on the SportScheck bus to Stubaier Gletscher (http://www.stubaier-gletscher.com/?l=en) on Sunday too. It should be quite sunny there with more than 1 m snow (+20 cm fresch from tmorrow).
You can still buy the ticket untill tmorrow afternoon; personally in SportScheck office (5 minuts from
Marienplatz U-Bahn: Sendlinger Str. 6; 6th floor) .

Most of the Kitsbhuel pistes were open and the snow was superb. Most of the time we were on the slopes alone, didnt have to queue once..
Was a fab weekend...
Will let you know when I go back there!

St. Johann was excellent. Didn't go to Kitzbuhel a ski website says they only open next weekend.
Was a bit icy on the main slope by end of day, probably since they only had a few runs open. But I didn't wait in line at all. 6h of hard riding, sweet!

Due to lack of money, didn't make it skiing.
I am interested to go the weekend of the 16th/17th of December, when I should have more money if anyone would be interested in going.. or if they know of a trip going that weekend, let me know.

However nobody (internet weather forcast& also tour leader in the bus 1 hour before arrival was warning about bad visibility/fog ..etc.) expected such a beutifull weather; just luck...

when looking for another companies; check some of these old posts; which might be helpfull 2 u:
http://www.toytowngermany.com/lofi/index.php/t24586.htmlSkiing & snowboarding in November / OctoberIt is true that SportCheck is not one from the cheapest.. I heard the arguments that it is because FREE ski/snowboard testing is included in the price... But than; wouldnt it be more fair-play to make it cheaper for those who are not interested in this test?

@erik
man that offer sounds really nice but nothing's mentioned about the return to Munich.
is this a one way thing?

do they leave you in Garmisch-Partenkirchen?!!

EDIT:
just read this..
QUOTE
Die Rückreise kann ganz individuell mit der Bayerischen Zugspitzbahn und der DB Regio Oberbayern erfolgen..
so it seems you can come back anytime you like. I think it's included..

Indeed interesting offer too .. They make it nearly every saturday ; little breakfast included in price :-)

Nov 28 2005, 12:57 pm
More detailed info:
PDFamong others; there is written:
Auswahl bei der Rückfahrt
Für die Rückfahrt haben Sie freie Auswahl bei den Regionalzügen
der DB. Egal, ob Sie etwas früher heimfahren
oder den Abend in Garmisch noch genießen wollen
– das Kombiticket gilt in allen Regionalzügen der DB
zwischen Garmisch und München am Gültigkeitstag.
So it seems like ticket Garmisch to München is included... But I recommnnd to check it via telephon (in that pdf doc. mentioned) - by DB is "alles möglich" :-)

I was on the Stubai
SportScheck trip and agree it was a great day. Never been my favourite Gletscher, but this time it seriously rocked and the test centre was a great oppurtunity to thrash a hire board around for a couple of hours. I was told it forecasts rain for next weekend. Have a nutter of a colleague here who boards when the snow is good and windsurfs until the lakes freeze when the weather is bad..

It was a lot more effort to type your post than to go to the "search" field and type "beginner skiing" ...there is a thread which pops up from this year, last week! WOW!

And having to read all those possibly outdated posts?? And having to go to them individual websites to read in GERMAN and then making a comparison for the best one?? No, my head's aching too much for such adventures tonight...

Seriously Why8, there is a CURRENT i.e. just a few days' old thread on where to ski, for beginners! And a not-so-new one i.e. a week old thread on where to learn skiing. All on TT. All English! Well, if you couldn't search for the thread yourself, neither am I bothered to post you the links! And crucify you? Na! Can't be bothered either!

@zimmer - ok ok... calm down... Consider my earlier questions in this thread removed... just being cheeky back there...
Hey, adding a post to ask me, or one51 or whoever to calm down etc. is just lame. Honestly, I find it hilarious (not furious)!
