Are there any published authors on this site? I finished writing my book and would like to find an agent or publisher without having to send my book to the United States. (I have been giving the name of an agent in SF)

Does anyone know of an agent or a publisher here in Munich willing to review a book written in English?

Thanks

@EUnomad,

maybe you should add more specifics, e.g. fiction / non-fiction (if non-fiction, what field and target audience), so that people will know what sort of publisher you are looking for.

You want to know more details about the book smile.gif

It is a fictional book in the same category as Margaret Atwood, Elizabeth Berg and Anne Tyler. Although I asked a guy to read the book and he liked it so it could be cross marketed with motivational literature.

Summary of the book:

Isabella has questions about life and doubts about choices made. She find herself forced to live through each question and shown the results of alternate choices through the lives of others. As she goes through this process, she begins to understand her life and her role in the world and regains her confidence and life focus.

That is a summary of the book, the genre and of course it is written in English and is approximately 50,000 words.

Hope that helps.

I'm afraid I don't know any likely publishers. If you need a good proofreader, though, there's one right here! biggrin.gif

There's lots of scientific publishers in Germany that publish books in both German and English. Have never heard of English-language fiction being accepted by (mainstream) German publishers, though. There's quite a number of companies that print your manuscript and arrange for ISBN-registration etc. if you pay them for it ("Druckkostenzuschuss"), though with that sort of arrangement you end up with the printed books and have to market them yourself. Guess that's not what you are looking for. From what I've heard, getting a first novel (of any kind) published by a German publisher without having to "subsidize" it yourself is very hard.

Thanks! yes, I have been meeting with some writers here in Munich and they use publishers in the US.. so I am getting the writers market from the US and will look for an agent/publisher in the US for my novel... I know there are a few agents here in Munich that handle English language literature...

I do not know if I would publish/market it myself at this stage.. we will see how things develop... I did meet someone who belongs to a publishing coop and they have a very good distribution channel but then again, I would have to pay to join... I want to exhaust other options before going that route... although I have five people who have read the book most found it riveting... one wanted the book to be longer...and one is not finished with it yet...

Anyone who wants to read it... let me know...

Theres a guy who was advertising his book, Joe Public, on TT. He'd probably be able to give you some pointers. Good luck smile.gif
