Well I have been working out for almost 3 months now and the weight is not leaving!!! Can anyone reccommend a natrual diet pill that might kick start the process?
Streeme
Come on, you are fat if you want to see like this.

Drink 2 glasses of water and an apple before every meal. Only snack on celery and carrots. Keep an actual record of what you eat. Don't use pills. Don't up like crazy Ellen Burstyn in Requieum for a Dream.
Kay
Exactly what Showem said; I'd just add to drink lots (of water!) throughout the day as well.
Moonboot
not sure diet pills are the way to go...they can have long-term side effects...also my friend used them for a while, sure the weight shifted but as soon as she was off the pills it all came back.
like Showem says you're better off analysing your diet and making some changes.
Rus
As someone who has struggled with my weight I can sympathise.
I thought that by just working out I would be able to lose the weight but in fact this does not work.
As everyone before has said it is all in the diet.
I successfully lost 10Kg in 4 Months (since returned) and this was primarily as I gave up eating meat.
In itself it doesnot sound much but when I started to look at it I realised that by making that decision. I was not going to places like Mcdonalds which meant not only was I not eating meat but also cut down on the bread and the fries which go with the burger.

Years ago I practically lived on diet pills for about 6 months. I lost about 70 pounds and kept it off for 4 years. It is just since having my second child that I haven't been able to lose the weight. I drink plenty of water and eat fairly sensibly. I don't know if it is because I am getting a little older or what but it is getting very depressing. It makes me sick to even get undressed. I just want something to enhance my< training
Rus
Have you tried using a personal trainer?
I find that with having soemone looking over you it is easier to get motivated to exercise properly. It is also not so boring as you have someone to talk to during the work out.
hockeywidow
I am a personal trainer, at least I was in Canada for a short period of time. I do have a trainer here and he actually just changed my program this week to include more cardio
Showem
I don't believe that as a qualified personal trainer you would be thinking about taking a pill to lose weight. A pill didn't put the weight on, a pill shouldn't take it off.

You should accept who you are at the size you are. Yes, you can improve it and that's a noble goal, but there's no need to hate yourself because you aren't your ideal.

Try letting samoan womens magazines brainwash your ideal of the female form instead of european or north american ones.

In my experience, two things need to be done simultaneously. This so far has always worked for me in a remarkable short time:

1. Eat healthy/less (just enough to keep you going all day w/out any symptoms such as dizziness).
2. Work out hard ~60 mins daily.

I also allow myself a proper meal of whatever I want in a restaurant once a week, so I have something to look forward to. Already after two weeks I can clearly see the results, and after 4-6 weeks I've reached my goal and can go back to the gluttonous life, until it's time for the next diet smile.gif

Have you tried a modified Atkins? This seems to work with just about anyone. Basically you eat primarily proteins (meats, low fat dairy and legumes) and the vegtables and a little fresh fruit (couple of times a week). Absolutely no refined sugars, starches or simple carbs (breads, rice, etc).

So a typical meal could be chili with beans (no rice)

Large salad with egg, cheese, chicken

Meat with sidee of veggies

Breakfast can be a soft/hard boiled egg, or some yougurt or cheese

I did this for 4 months and lost 40 pounds. I also excercised daily for 45 minutes of running.

Of course one can turn this into a really unhealthy thing by eating large amounts of things like fried meats/ bacon or cheeses...one has to be reasonable.

I would also recommend you have your thyroid level checked, though usually we simply eat too much food and move too little.

Good luck.

Rus is quite correct. But you should try cutting out ALL animal fats, this includes butter, milk etc. Also all ready made meals are packed with animal fat,fat is a taste carrier(costs less, tastes better) Its all a lifestyle thingy. I lost 8 kilos last year after I stopped eating all forms of animal fat. You`ll get there but it takes time. wink.gif

I just wanted the names of diet pills that work in Germany. If you never met me when I was skinny you probably wouldn't think I am over weight but I do and that is why I want them. It isn't because I am brainwashed by and magazines it is becasue my fat clothes no longer fit and I am tired of being this size. I realize that after next month when I am finished breast feeding and can reduce my food intake more that it will probably start coming off quicker. I would not start diet pills while still nursing. As for not taking diet pills while being a personal trainer, that is where I got really into them. (the gym) It was like a drug store there, most of the trainers I worked with encouraged there clients to take them because when the weight started "falling off" it made them look better and more people wanted to train with them.

I am taking Recatol, an extract of algae, not really medicine at all. You take two of them half an hour before every meal, drink at least a pint of water and let them expand in your stomach. Eat half of your usual helping and you will feel pleasantly full. Keep drinking all day long, eat lots of soup etc. It's a slow but steady method, I've lost maybe 3 pounds in 2 weeks but can keep this up for months. I might even ask for scales for Xmas coz I've been too fat-feeling to even know what I weigh.

@hockey widow,
Proof please! Then prescription will follow. wink.gif

You mean me and my Recatol? Sorry, no before and after pics, only proof is my jeans slipping instead of being too tight to breath. And it's non-prescription, just go to the pharmacy and ask for it.

most important to loose some weight- cut out alcohol! Its a nasty empty calorie. If you are really concerned, then talk to your doc and ask for a recomendation for a doc that specializes in nutrition and meal planning. There is one by Lehel, she is a doc, so she checks what problems you really have, then works with you to get you on a proper diet for your blood type and what is ailing you. Sometimes a slow metabolism needs to be kick started, or maybe there is another problem like thyroid or something.
Don't ask me the docs name, I forget! But there are a few in Munich.

You should never use weight as an indicator. Muscle weighs three times the weight of fat, so people discourage themselves as they look at the scale. Throw it aways and really do not concern yourself with weight. Three things are needed to lose weight.

1) exercise...increase your daily regime. Your muscles will also use more calories so your metabolism increases..and you will feel healthier.

2) Always eat a large breakfast (this jump starts your body for the day and raises you body form its hibernation) and don't snack during the day (some will do the opposite..don't eat large meals but eat a lot of healthy snacks)

3) Never eat three hours before bed. Don't eat a large meal and then curl up for the night. Your body will just want to store these calories and the most efficent way is fat.

But I believe the most important is not to change your diet. Too many people go for this easy fix and change their diet and within three months are back to their old habits. Unless you make a definite lifestyle change do not change your diet. However that being written, Showems advice is great. Keep a diary of everything you have eaten for a month. Really list everything. YOu may be surprised at how poorly you eat and may want to rectify this.

The las bit of advice should be the fourth..never drink sodas. Give up drinking these sugar based drinks and for one month only drink mineral water.
inka
It's also very important to make sure you eat a decent (healthy) breakfast in the morning, as that also really kickstarts your metabolism for the day. Skipping breakfast should be a no-no. smile.gif Good luck!
dazzled
Unfortunately, the older we get the slower our metabolism is and to compensate we must exercise more and avoid too much fatty foods.

Basicaly though you should be able to eat everything but only in moderation.

And if that fails, theres Zenical!!! Works like a dream and my sister is living proof.
Keydeck
I just had three cups of coffee, two butter brezns and a schinken-käse croissant. Super!

Sorry, comment on the thread. Drugs to help lose weight. Ridiculous! Eat sensibly, get exercise, cut down on the booze. Drugs, why the hell does everyone run for the tablets to make things easier? Vitamins, supplements, diet pills, hair-loss pills. It's no wonder kids are growing up sicker these days.
worm
I second that motion.

or just smoke a joint and be happy with yourself!!!

And eating 2 butter brezens and a kase -schinken croissant is eating sensibly? rolleyes.gif
Kza
Basically diet pills (usually just amphetamines, or speed) merely supress the appetite, the bodys natural urge to eat. Nasty shit.

Never said I was trying to lose weight or eat sensibly. Plus, I'm a firm believer in the "do as I say, don't do as I do" philosophy.

Zencial is a prescription-only medicine.

QUOTE
XENICAL may be right for you if you have a Body Mass Index of 30 or greater, or have a BMI of 27 or greater and have other risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease or diabetes

Not for those who are just feeling a bit fat.
It is a medicine with significant side-effects and thus should be taken seriously.
It isn't a quick fix, is no wonder pill and should be reserved as listed in the prescribing information for the obese. It also will not modify behaviour (some folk still eat the fatty foods despite the greasy incontinence this medicine can cause).
Some things are prescription only for good reason.
32D
Jokes apart.

Have you ever tried raw food.
Various Sprouts , Cucumber, carrot, tomato, sweet corns, beetroot and salads. Continue this diet for atleast month and see the difference. You are definite to loose weight. And eating raw food keeps you fresh and energetic.

No alcohol and no cooked/boiled food. Initially, this is very difficult. But once you see the results, it will be encouraging. Maybe little bit of yoga.

These help reduce weight.
dazzled
The pills I speak about do NOT supress the appetite and do not contain speed and are recommended by medical professionals to combat weight related problems such as diabetes etc. etc.
dazzled
What side affects are you speaking of Katrina?
Katrina
Xenical stops the body absorbing most of the fat consumed in food.
So where does the fat go if you don't modify your behaviour?
Yeah that's right, greasy, oily, fatty stools which may be diarreah or lead to incontinence.
Feeling a bit fat does not equal being obese!
Xenical is for the obsese or those with significant weight problems with additional risk factors.
Yes it is a useful drug in specific areas where rapid weight loss is necessary to prevent further harm, but Xenical remains a prescription medicine reserved for those specific categories and should not be used by anyone else.

Side Effects
Because XENICAL works by blocking the absorption of dietary fat, it is likely that you will experience some changes in bowel habits. These bowel changes are a natural effect of blocking the fat from being absorbed. They generally occur during the first weeks of treatment; however, for some people they may continue for 6 months or longer while on XENICAL. These changes may include gas with oily discharge, an increased number of bowel movements, an urgent need to have them, and an inability to control them, particularly after meals containing higher amounts of fat than are recommended.

So it isn't just my opinion - that's the official website.
Prescribing information PDF
Eleanor Rigby
The idea behind Xenical is behavioral modification. The pills themselves don't do much to encourage weightloss by themselves. The pills basically encapsulate excess fat in the stomach and force it to pass quickly out of the body. The result is if you consume too much fat you will experience an intense case of abdominal cramping and have to make a quick dash to the toilet or risk soiling yourself.

Behavioral modification theory suggests that the "punishing" action of the stomach cramps and toilet dash will influence the sub conscious to not want the offending foods even long after you've stopped taking the pills. The idea behind it is quite clever but won't work for everyone.
dazzled
I think the side affects you speak of are nothing in comparison regarding the diseases that an obese person will and can develop. And yes, Xenical is not recommended for someone who is a "bit fat".

But my Mother for example who is genuinely obese, cannot take the medication as she already has a high blood pressure and this medication would only aggravate it.

I would say:
1. Eat everything (in moderation as someone said)
2. Exercise (cardio+yoga/pilates)
3. Drink 5-6 (or more) cups of red tea. It burns the fat!
dazzled
And to add a last comment, the medication gave my sister a push in the right direction so to speak with which she was able to lose 12 kilos. She now concentrates on a healthier diet and exercise.

And now she is once more a very happy and confident woman.

There is only one way to diet properly - by burning more calories than you consume.

It will also give you gas and piss off everyone around you. Worse still are the dehydrated veggies in a pack that hikers use.

yep, just working out maybe isn't enough; do more cardio.
Pilates and yoga are great for condition too...you can pick up DVDs quite cheap on Amazon if your gym doesn't offer courses. I've a great Pilates DVD if you want me to copy it for you I can.

@Eurovol,
Have you tried before?
persik
I agree with eurovol on this too. i actually have tried. and you actually don't need to be on a specific raw-veggie diet to feel the gas from veggies. cucumbers, cabbage, onions, broccoli, all of those are prove gas-inducers. ask any gastrointestinal doctor about it. a lot of people who just eat a salad feel bloated afterwards.

but i think it is definately healthy to eat lots of veggies. sometimes i boil or steam mine for just a few mintues so they are not completely raw. i also eat lots of other grains like bulgur, couscous, amaranth or brown rice. they are sold here in gruener markts all over.
i had a friend who was also having trouble losing baby-weight. but once she did the following things it really helped
-stopped eating after 7 (no major dinner, but fruit is ok). someone already said that eating late is very bad, for anyone for that matter
-drank lots of water and green tea
-cut out alcohol and bad sugars (also carbs like pasta, white bread, etc, they turn into sugars super quick)
-basically did a modification of atkins too. but some healthy carbs she did allow (brown rice, bulgur, etc. but NOT ever eating proteins and major carbs together)
-healthy breakfast, but never skipping it!
-cardio/yoga
32D
Yes, cabbage and brocolli are. I dont think cucumber is.
More importantly you should intake more fiberous vegetables and fruits. And in good portions. This is definitely a good menu for reducing weight.

On a 3 month diet like this, I dont remember having abnormal gas.
