What shoes to pack...

...for coming to Munich in winter

Hi Everyone...

Gotta question here.. I'm coming to Munich on early dec, i'll be staying 'till march, and I need suggestions 'bout what kind of shoes should I bring with me... I come for a training in a company (and I don't have to dress formally there), and I'm gonna need my sport shoes that's for sure, and occasionally maybe I'll be going on a snowboarding trip, and maybe have to attend a formal dinner thing or smthin' like that smile.gif

I know the question sounds silly, but I come from a tropical country and the longest time I've stayed in another country durring the winter is only 2 weeks tongue.gif ... and I don't wanna buy any shoes there when i can get it much more cheaper here hehehe..

so.. anybody have any suggestion?

You are only bringing shoes? Nothing else?
butterbean
you come from a tropical country and are being sent to Munich for winter? wow, who did you piss off?

boots. light hiking, covering your ankles, preferably waterproof but don't have to be, as my guess would be that you'll be too cold to spend much time outside. takes a little while to adjust. smile.gif

edit: I say hiking rather than traditional snow boot since she won't be here permanently and could use the hiking boots elsewhere.

hehehe..

off course I'll be taking other things too... but I'm only confused 'bout the shoes tongue.gif
Well I love the winter (if it's not too cathastrophic off course).. I was there last year durring the winter too (only for 10 days though), and i only have to bring a pair of boots.

thx guys smile.gif

You might want to buy sheep-skin inner soles for the hiking boots if they aren't fur or other lined.

I'd bring 2 pairs personally (note - I'm a girl, not sure if you're a guy). One pair of warm, waterproof, comfy hiking boots (I have a great pair from Lowa), and one other lighter pair, either leather shoes or skate shoes/trainers. This spare pair is good for if your other shoes get drenched, and for when the weather turns warmer.
I see you want to bring your sports shoes, I presume for indoor sports/for a gym, in which case that'd be a 3rd pair, as you probably shouldn't wear these outside on the street.

make sure you've got at least one decent pair with treads on, so you don't slip
you can buy boots and stuff when you get here, at a push

Bring a good pair of waterpro...no, sandles should be ok!!

Question, are you stupid?

Cheap outdoor boots at Aldi today
borracuda
hey! those boots are tempting..

but how do you get them? I never figured out how this ALDI website works. so that means the shoes are on every Aldi this week or is it only on some? and how do you know?
UrbanAngel
The offers on the Aldi-Süd website should be available 'in' all Aldi shops which fall into that category (that of Aldi Süd, so it's not Germany wide). The special offers usually sell out pretty quickly though.

Birkenstock clogs along with very thick socks are the only way to go for the fashion conscious. And hell, we know Munich is a fashion conscious town, just ask Toronto. smile.gif This combo would look amazing whether you're going to the opera or to GMs for a bender.
