Glühwein - mulled wine, usually served at Advent

I've had a few glasses of Glühwein lately and I'm worried if this stuff is doing me permanent harm. And is it even legal?

You are funny. Of course it's legal, it's sold in every christmas market across the country. I don't think it does any more damage than any other type of alcoholic beverage.

Of course it looks like JJ wasn't heard from since - or maybe the Glühwein did him in!

They probably misheard him and served him turpentine instead.

glühwein...the season of good will is upon TT where friends and virtual enemies shake hands for a period of two weeks only during an extensive alcohol phase...has anyone found a nice tasting gluhwein...or are you all still on the guiness

I think if you want good Glühwein then you have to make it yourself. The problem with most the shop ones is that they use really cheap wine.

You could also try Bio Glühwein... once Christmas market time comes around you'll be able to get it there.

Regarding that linked recipe, you can throw in some cardamom, star aniseed and a vanilla stick too (and of course the famous "mit Schuß", a splash of rum, if you want that added kick).

I have not yet indulged in such a beverage... yet from what i hear the mornings are filled with regret!

Have a read _{[keydeck mode]and use the search function, ffs [/keydeck mode].} This might help you figure out what it is. As far as the intensity of the hangover- I suppose it largely depends on whether you stick to the normal Glühwein or go for the extra Schuss.

Here is a Glühwein (mulled wine) recipe (originally provided by STB in another thread). It's easy to make (and even easier to drink) and is very enjoyable indeed. I'm rather reasonable sensible boring, however, so I have no firsthand experience of glühwein-induced hangovers.
