Ideas for children's birthday parties - Munich

Activities and kids' party suggestions
epapas
hi all,

would anyone happen to have any unique ideas for children's parties? My son is turning 6 and I am at a loss for what to do...my flat is too small, and I'd like to kids to be amused by something: games/rides/clowns/performance..and, I refuse to have the party at McDonald's...

is there anything that would cater to children???

any ideas??? blink.gif

many thanks for your help!

what about a water park? They have one in Deggendorg and one in dingolfing, I am sure they have one close to Munich. or a skating party

Take a look at my favourite place in town, the Munchner Tierpark. Its grand in the winter and they have various party packages. smile.gif

You could try www.lollihop.de or www.cocoloco-gruenwald.de .. I was at Cocoloco's last Sunday and they were hosting a hugh birthday party, had to be 20-30 kids. There websites have birthday packages.

We had our son's 7th birthday party at the zoo last June and I can only recommend it!

A docent met us and very patiently answered all kinds of questions as we made our way to the elephants. There the kids were allowed to go into the feeding area and feed the elephants directly. They were thrilled. Then, they got to go into the "behind the scenes" reptile area and they got to PET A BOA CONSTRICTOR. You can't do much more than that to make a 7 year old boy's day!

It cost us about 100 Euros altogether, (we had a total of 9 kids), but it was worth it.

Shit, don't mind the kids, I want to do that stuff at the zoo. My birthday is coming up soon, anyone feel like petting a snake... tongue.gif

For a birthday party with a difference, I can recommend the art studio "Kunterbunt" in Giesing. Up to 10 children can spend 2 hours being creative and using their fantasy. The owner, Franziska Kugler, is very friendly and good with children from what I saw. She can speak English if necessary.

The activities to be undertaken are agreed in advance and obviously depend on the age group and wishes of the birthday child. My daughter did some pottery and wax pictures. Here is one of the masterpieces:

Further details can be found on the website Atelier Kunterbunt
Courses for adults as well as children are also offered.

Wildpark Poing is also good (weather permitting!)...

I'd go along with Wildpark Poing as well. I love the Tierpark, but Poing has the most miserable donkey... which my son calls Eeyore and we take the piss out of. Then they've got the neatest miniature chickens with a cockerel about 5 inches high with a BIG attitude. Love the place. smile.gif

The Munich Childrens Theatre is great if the kids have some German. Sarah had her 6th birthday there and took along 2 friends. Tickets are only 6-8.50 Euros each. They are set up for birthday parties, complete with lolly bags etc, or you can just take them there and supply your own lolly bags etc.

2kids!
there's also the new children's park jogolis (bei kunstparkost). i've heard it's good and read that they do birthdays. we're attending a party there this weekend, so we'll see. look it up at www.jogolis.de

Our first visit to the theatre was an expensive disaster. Me and Sin Jnr. went to see Findus & Petterson at Gasteig a couple of weeks ago.. When it started he became nervous and lasted 30 minutes before cryin' and wanting to go home. When I put him to bed I discovered the problem: Findus in the books and DVD is a small cartoon cat. Findus on the stage is an adult actress playing the part of the cat. The dimension change freaked the poor mite out.

My number 3 is having his 9th birthday on Sunday he's happy to go to the Allianz arena with a few pals (all football fanatics). Cheapest Tickets cost 20 for adults and 10 per child (seated areas). Its not much of an interactive party but then even watching 1860 is better than coco-loco or lollihop on a weekend !!

Number 4 had his 7th last month and we did a home party with 20 kids. Thats the last one of them...:-)

Number 2 next month (13th) and number 1 in Dec (18th). I reckon I must be an expert on kids birthday parties in Munich at this stage !! Thats already 47 under my belt (God, thats sounds like a lot...).

I tried to organise something at the previously mentioned Atelier in Giesing but she hasn't responded to mail/message or phone.

The Bavarian Public Observatory seems to do special events, including private tours in english and childrens parties.

Update to my last comment on the "Atelier Kunterbund". Frau Kugler phoned today and was more than helpful. If we hadn't already organised something then I would have gone to her.

Magicians for a one year old? Sounds like your boy is a lot more mature than mine were at one year old. Try gearing the party towards the adults and you will have much more fun.

well the majic show is for other kids,))..thought that was pretty obvious!!!

Rene does professional Magic shows and even a kids version all in English.
See His website and the Childrens shows.
He comes recommended and possibly also a Toytown member.

For a great magician, try René (www.renemagic.com or (089) 65113977). We had him for our son's 6th birthday party and he was fantastic, the children were mesmerised. He also speaks English like a native, having grown up in North London. I'd recommend him anytime.

I think the -transport museum does a kid's birthday party thing.

Not appropriate for a 1 yr old, but just to add to this topic, we rented a bouncy castle for a birthday party. The guy gave fantastic service, quick replies via email, and the kids loved it. Discussion topic and details Bouncy castle hire

Hi,

I have been entertaining children at birthday parties for a long time now with music, games, active story-time, also bilingually (English, German). I am an early-learning English and music teacher here in Munich.

If you wish to have more information, please PM me!

Thank you.
