Hi Guys,

I have a few visitors coming over in April for the weekend and I would love to take them on the BMW Factory tour. Have any of you guys out there done the tour? How do you arrange it? I have been looking for a number but cannot find anything on the BMW site itself.

Also, my visitors are coming on Easter weekend, Friday 9th until Monday 12th April. Do you think that the factory would be closed over the Easter weekend? I am kind of thinking yes, but it's always worth asking just to make sure.

Any information would be a great help.

Hi Tallicame(did I get that right?)

I work at BMW(but not in the plant). I asked around and the answer is No, the plant will not be open on Friday before Easter or the Monday after Easter because these are holidays here in Bavaria. I know I'm not working and usually, when the plant is open, I have to work(in IT, you always have to work it seems).

But, when you call the number for tours, I'm sure they will know when they will be able to give them.

Good luck!

A mate came over last year and wanted to do the plant tour: they were booked out a good time in advance. Can't for the life of me remember if it was days, weeks, months or years though. smile.gif

Errrm ?? I have done this tour around the museum more times than I really care to mention (too many people visiting me !) and have never had a problem just turning up and booking the tickets. Last time it was 10 people !

Then heading over to the Olympic park, and heading up the tower to have a good look around Munich !

Ermmmm. Museum is easy, factory tour is different.

just for info, just called about a factory tour (from the number in the OP's post) they still do the tours, in English too if you pre-book! for kids and OAPs 3€, adults 6€. the tour takes 2 and a half hours, meeting at BMW Welt then going over to the factory.

I hate people who edit their posts after they've been commented on.

That might drive me to beers at 3pm...hmm...I don't have to work tomorrow, fuck it.

I did the tour in September in English with my parents. It was interesting...right up until the part where they said they 'glue' the frame together.

what a great time we had!
the tour lasts about 2.5 hours so take a drink with you. also wear comfy shoes and light clothing; it gets hot in the factory!

I may be stating the obvious, but just checking, - from your posts it seems you booked via telephone in early January, and went on the tour late Feb? (I've always tried to book via internet and they always seem to be booked up for 6 months in advance. I'm wondering if the telephone made the difference?)
