I could be interested in joining a game of pool or snooker, but as always when it comes to pool - which game and rules do people play?

USA 9 Ball / Uk 8 Ball
If UK 8 Ball then which rules?

I am a little out of touch as I haven't played for around 10 years and the rules I used to know were basically 2 shots carry forward (after a foul), also free ball on a foul.

I seem to think the latest rules have some weird changes, along the lines of white ball anywhere on table after a foul and no snookering without hitting cushions and possibly standing on one leg whilst reciting your National anthem blidfolded. or something like that!

It seems to me the rules are basically decided before you start the game. They normally play with the rule about getting 2 shots after a foul.

yeah, and we're all pretty flexible about rules. if you have a preference, we can definitely go with those rules. so long as you call them solids, not spots:)

cant make it this week, going to go watch buffy instead! should be back next week though.

also, I was wondering how to make this thread into an official meetup thread with a signup option and all of that. We've been playing regularly since about mid-november, perhaps it's about time. I wouldn't mind writing an initial frontpage with details and such, it'd just be nice to get an idea of who's coming each week and possibly generate some more interest.

I definitely can't get there tomorrow and may have problems over the next 2-3 weeks, but I will be there eventually.

Any mid-week players, or only Sundays?

I don't have any preference over spots & Stripes or Solids & Stripes.
But I prefer yellows and reds!

There will be no pool session this week, as most of us will be going off to Neuschwanstein Castle for the day.

I dont think there's actually been a pool session for at least month now... we all seem to keep having sunday conflicts or simply a lack of motivation. should we call it quits with this meetup or is anyone still determined to give it another go?

Well, thanks for the invite. *tear* You could perhaps transform the pool club into the "Discover Bavaria/Germany/Eastern Europe/etc" club. Or if people are too busy for weekly meet ups, then make the pool club a once every two weeks or once a month type event. Problem solved.

I dont have enough of a life to be too busy for sunday pool, simply had to work the past two weeks (not normal, I have the vast majority of weekends free). I'm still up for every week seeing as I need to sharpen up my sharking skillz.

Alright, luckwad- I can't make it every week, but I do enjoy coming down for a game or two. We should play U.S. rules (i.e. not these wus English rules they normally use at pool club ) and get you all skilled up so you can go back and make some money sharking people at college- or at least be able to win yourself some free drinks.

yep, I'll be there plus 2, which makes enough for one table of doubles. I'm pretty sure a few others are in as well. Not sure about lunch beforehand, have to get some cleaning done yet and I will most likely procrastinate with that till tomorrow

not sure if i can make it tomorrow I may have to go and take part in my other life I guess a few others will turn up and hopefully some new people, just depends if cock almighty decides that the whole world goes on hold because he cant make it, even tho he seldom turns up and if he does its ten mins before we leave.

Would love to make it out, but having bad money problems at the moment ( been screwed over by a bank back in the UK) shit i havent been out for three weeks ( apart form tequila night) and have been living on the cheapest food i can find. I have got it down to 3 days food costing 1.79 Euros!!!

Im sure i will be back out in a few weeks or so tho, just need send a few death threats back to the UK to get hold of a few thousand pounds.
