I am organising a Christmas Party for approx 100 people. It is a sit down do and I need some place cards to display the guest's names on the tables. In the past, I have made the cards myself but they have looked fairly tacky. The only cards I have seen in the shops have been sold in packs of ten and are over 2 euro a pack which is more than I had wanted to spend.
Does anyone know of a stationary wholesalers or online company that I could buy from? It is possible to buy this type of thing online but I can’t work out what the German word would be. Please help, I really don’t want to make them again this year.

There is a large Stationary shop by Marienpl- KautBollinger (I think), I am sure they have what you need... its just up the road towards SendlingerTor.

There is a Staples near Hackerbrücke.
They should have a small selection of stationery.

Yes, I went there last year. They only sell small expensive packs.

You could use parcel tags and tie them around the stem of the glass?
Write the names on with a glittery pen and make up address labels using the office printer to Santa in Lappland (or the Christkindl) and stick them on the other side.
Tischkarten is the word you want.
Also try
Ikea for cheapo card holders.

You could also order place cards online - confetti.co.uk is just an example!

Another tip: at my wedding I used stones! Went down to the
Isar, picked some stones along the riverbench and then wrote the guestnames on them with a glittery pen - looked great (and it didn´t cost anything except for the pen!)

Thanks carpediem the online confetti price is much the same as all the others - not sure why this little card costs so much! I like the stone idea but it's not quite what I was thinking of.

Can anyone think of any other stationers for plain cards/invitations? I'm going to check out
Kaut Bullinger and Staples, does anyone know if somewhere like
Karstadt does them? I've checked Ludwig Beck and they didn't have a large selection.

I've looked in dict.leo.org and a stationers is 'Schreibwarenhändler', but when I search in Google or Die Gelbe Seiten, nothing much comes up. Are they maybe called something else here? I know where I'd go in England, but not here (apart from the couple of suggestions up above)!

see also that one shop in the
Fünf Höfe -- Schreibmayr I think it's called. But Kaut Bullinger'll be fine too.
"Schreibwaren" gets you plenty of hits on the
http://telefonbuch.de site btw. General search tip -- if you don't get results on a very specific term, try a less specific term.

Ok, I just checked
Kaut Bullinger and then
Kaufhof.
Kaufhof has these types of cards for cheaper, but then again, Bullinger has a larger selection and offer a 10% discount when you buy 200 or more of any 1 kind of product (it has to be the same product though).

I printed invites on those self service machines on the little cards and then stuck them onto some nice red cards from
karstadt with matching envelopes.
