I bought a wallet at karstadt that i absolutely hated after seeing it in brighter light. I lost the bill somewhere on my way home and i want to return it. Is it possible to show them my credit card statement and get it back or do i really have to live with that wallet all my life? I paid quite a substantial amount for it so I would really want it back plus I have to buy a new one.

Unless it's defective, they're under no obligation to take it back. We've gone over this on a couple other threads before.
However, they'll most likely take it back if you ask nicely and explain the problem. You may have to settle for store credit rather than a refund. I don't know how Karstadt run their transactions; they may or may not have associated the credit card transaction number with your receipt number which would simplify everything (except that it's a bitch for the programmers to initially employ.

If u think my brain is as little as that.
Yes I did they just didnt have the time there so they just said go up to the info center at the store and ask. It was 15 mins to 20:00 then. I thought before going there again I would ask here so I could get the bank statement as well. Incase I cant I dont want to go through all that trouble i will post here to see if anyone has done it before?
@baddoggie
It is defective. Its a bright red color that is not so loud in the karstadt light

I think you are thinking about the European "Distance Selling Regulations". So that works for goods bought online etc but not in this case.

I think we all do understand..it appears that you are choosing the wrong method of complaint. Do what BR said, go to the store. It will be entirely up to them..no matter how many posts you print. You can bring in supplemental material such as your printed credit card bill, which may help..but not necessarily. The point is go to the store and try and return it. Your post of being there before is confusing..why did you leave? Did you just go and ask if it was possible without having the wallet with you? If they said no, then they won't.
I would go and try and be nice and explain the situation. Typing here won't help!

I totally agree that you should go back with the wallet and ask. I don't know about Krastad policy, each store is different. but most likely they will issue and exchange (or store credit). I went to H&M to return something I bought in the summer (an item they for sure no longer carry), without a bill/reciept, and they let me exchange it for a sweater

...
good luck

I get confused enough as it is, BD, when people write GG (I assume for GeorgiaGirl), as this is the abbreviation for my other main username on a different internet platform, so it always takes a few seconds till I realise they're not talking to me. Duh.

Erm... how were you planning on returning it without going there? Telling them to get their asses over to your place to pick up the purse and drop off da monies?

But you're not GG on EB's turf nor am I "UU", "MM", "MW" or "IV" here. You could always register with GG as well and if you initcap it GnnnnGnnnnnnn, claim "GG" and force everyone to refer to the peach as "gg". OK?

As i mentioned in the first post. Poor lighting at karstadt led me to belive that the color of the wallet was a marron but when i took it home and looked at it in daylight. it was red!!! yewww..
Hey and yeti,
I bought it 2 days ago. thats the difference.

BD didn't buy a wallet, bd did. Keep up with the class JE. I already essplained this to UA.
And some paints and dyes look
very different in natural light than they do under the glow of fluorescent lights, especially reds which look much more pale and tame. That's why most markets have incandescent bulbs near the red meat.

I once returned a watch there without a receipt and they took it back. I think that was because the warranty card was stamped at the location, so it is proof. If you bought just the one thing on the card, bring in the statement, show them and I think they will take it back for credit to the card, provided you have the box and / or tags.

What do you people think my chances are of returning a sweater that I received for Christmas to the shop? I have the bill, but not the tags from the sweater. It's started falling apart along one seam and I don't really feel like repairing it, I'd rather just get a new one or my money back.

Good question Showem. I have the same dilemma. Bought a cashmere pullover (read not cheap

) from Tommy H for hubby and it started falling apart after the first wearing. After the 3rd mending I am really jacked off, but wonder if they will take it back now that I have done some sewing. I think I will try on Monday anyway. Will keep you posted.
Nicky
Jan 22 2006, 4:26 pm
@ Showem In my experience the tags are not important, the shop can put new ones on. The receipt is important. However, you may have trouble as you have obviously worn the garment. This means you have to prove it is faulty. You're not just making use of your right to exchange goods.
As for the original poster, no time to read the whole thread, but it should be sufficient to simply smile and explain to the assistant that the red colour does not match whatever you bought it to go with when seen in daylight. As long as you accept a credit-note, or buy something else, which is not too difficult in a large store, shouldn't be a problem.

Clear case of good being faulty within the 2 year guarantee required by law. Return it for replacement, repair or refund (their choice, but I'd push for refund as it is so new and you now "lost faith in their products").

I did think of that YL6, but wasn't sure if clothes have the same guarantee.
