Hi everyone,

I am so pleased to have come across this website!!!

My husband, my son Lukas (6 month old) and I just arrived to Gauting (South-West of Munich) few weeks ago. After having enjoyed the city of London for 8 years, we decided to have a change of scenery and come to Germany.

I want to quickly get integrated into the German life and culture; speaking the language seems to be one of the key ways to get to it. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on language schools, private teachers, etc. and obviously any tips on what to do with my 6-month baby while I am taking the lessons.

Thank you !!!

Hiya, welcome to TT. Here's a list of German Language Schools. You might want to give a ring to Meeting Point:

QUOTE
Meeting Point provide language training at 4 levels (beginner to advanced). There are also one-on-one courses which are tailored to individual needs. Meeting Point language courses also include intercultural training. They help newcomers settle into Munich life by showing how to use the public transport system, how to use an ATM at the bank, how to navigate the bureaucracy of residence permits etc.. This service is meant for the entire expatriate family: employee, spouse, and children. Meeting Point also have a creche where kids can be looked after whilst parents are in class.

.

Theres also loads of good tips on the site for learning German on a budget, as well as recommendations to private tutors if you prefer. All of em, any just about any topic can be found via the handy search feature.

Oh and be sure to hook up with the other moms and dads on the board. I *suspect* they have all these really nice underground meetups that the rest of us aren't invited to. dry.gif laugh.gif

Hi Cristina,

Here is other language school in the city center, which is offering babysitting, Desk. I don't know if they take so little babies, but you always can try.

Volkshochschule is offering Kinderbetreuung for free to those, who is studying German, but they take children from the age of two. My younger child is going there, while I'm studying German. The place is nice, which I can't say about the course itself. In the beginning there were 20 people in the class, half of them with the wrong, too low level.
