I seem to have remembered that I got my work permit when I went to the office to register myself in Munich, and also a residency permit aswell. They stamped my passport (AUFENTALSTITEL) is that the work permit??? My employer is asking for work permit, is passport enough? Someone please help me?

No, your work permit is a piece of paper that was probably stamped and given back to you. It has your company's tax code on it and is specific to the company you work for. It is not the same as your residence permit. I too have the Aufentatlstitel in my passport.

Your company will keep the Work Permit in their files but you should keep a copy for yourself.

Is it a pink color slip not a whole sheet of paper? please let me know.

my work permit was a whole sheet of paper with lots of ifnormation about me and the comopany, and at the bottom was a stamp.

same here...it should be a whole sheet of paper...(and passport is almost definately not enough...)

Last year they were two separate documents, this year they are not. Its just one thing pasted into your passport giving permission to both live and work here.

Kza - hmmm, so now they don't give you a piece of paper that your company is supposed to keep on file for you? How do they do that then?
Kza
No they dont give the separate work permit anymore. How do they do what then? The company still has forms to fill out before you get the combined permit. It was supposed to simplify things, but I dont think they suceeded very well.
