Augsburg is my nearest point of civilisation (not gonna count Landsberg). Just thought I would see if there are any other victims in the area wanna meet up?
I am no expert on Augsburg nightlife but figured maybe Guiness and Mexican at "The Post" might be a good call? And I guess we could even try to go bowling before if anyone is interested.
JE suddenly starts to get sociable for a change...

I am up for it. I think an outing at ABC Bowling would be great. They have a huge bar, billiards. For all you Americans who miss Root Beer, there is a Subway that serves Barqs Root Beer. This bowling alley is also a 60 second walk from the Augsburg HBF.

Man, I would love to come out to Augsburg. Having lived and worked out there for three years, I know some great places. BUT, I need to clone myself so I can have more free time to do this kind of stuff.

Did you go already? I was busy this weekend.
The Post does much better food than Murphys, the chilli bowl is excellent.
Other places to eat, there´s a Juleps just open does awesome burgers and good prices, and there are loads of places doing traditional Bayerisch fare of course.
There´s a new and rather good curry house just opened, does an ´all you can eat´ offer on Sundays.
The Cassanova is small but does some of the best food and wine in town.
As for bars, take yer pick!

What day of the week is best for those interested in coming to Augsburg for an event? 37 minutes from Munich HBF by the way.
Any Friday...although this coming one´s allready booked.

Ah yes. Augsburg. Lived there for 6 whole years..
Murphys Law is indeed a top place. I played for the darts team there for 3 years although you will have trouble playing there at weekends as they usually fill the darts area with tables.
The Post is a nice place. It was started by the guy who used to own Murphys Law and was a mexican and Irish pub back then. I presume it still is..
There is also the inevitable Peaches and Enchillada bars which are situated in the Maximillianstrasse - the apparent place to be in the evenings, especially in summer.
König von Flandern is a great beer hall with fantastic own brew beer and great Baverian food.
A couple of decent clubs but nothing much to shout about - Yum Club and Motown were my usual haunts back then.
If something is organised then let me know. I am in

I am shooting for Nov 25 or 26 for an Augsburg Bowling/Billiards and Large bar outing..
Again trains out this way are easy and fairly cheap (37 minutes from Munich HBF)

You mean you never went to the Circus? A real dive but open ´till 5am on the weekends. Rockfabrik is a massive, well, rock club, then there´s Spectrum (you get dinosaur bands playing there, it was The Mission just recently), Kerosin for techno (well, house anyway). I used to live directly opposite Motown, VIP entry straight in, being neighbours, in fact my name is still on the doorbell, so I´ve used that card a couple of times recently hehe (the bouncer took my passport and went to have a look last time, I think he suspected).
Max strasse is the place to be seen in the summer for sure, I live right next door to Cafe Max and there´s a labyrinth of different bar areas, it´s just been refitted and has a new sound system but I normally prefer a quiet beer outside there in the summer.
I´ve been here 6 years now, crikey! The expats here call it the ´Augsburg vortex´, go down to Murphys and it´s full of people saying they have plans to leave, and yet next year, there they still are!
Any weekend up to early December is good for me. I have sofa/floor space if people are travelling in and it turns into a late one.

Johny English, a late reply as I first discovered this thread. But wannted to let you know, if you look for a sparing partner for a beer here in Augsburg, I might give it a try next time, simply PM me or drop me a short note on sahulik(at)atlas.cz.
As far as I know, is the current "hot place" called Cafe Max. There is also one nice place "behind" the Theatre worth trying. Unfortunately I do not know the name, I just walked a few times around.

Oh good God. Cafe Max and the Max Strasse. What a lovely place to go and gawp at the tons of totty sitting outside and trying to avoid the bloody Turkish driving backwards and forwards in there tuned-to-the-eyeballs Mercedes listening to turkish music out of the 250 speakers they have in their cars...
Ahhhhh, the good old days

I am unfortunately banished to Augsburg as i'm here for an internship for 6 months or so...and maybe I am blind, but there is quite a lack of 'totty' in this "town". Unless one equates totty with 'skank' of course...
Seriously, I've been here almost 2 months and I have to say this town has depressed me beyond belief. Hence I have spent most of my weekends AWAY from here hehe. Guess if a city has a population under 3 million it doesn't quite do it for me.
But it's nice to see there ARE expats out in this part of the woods...so if there are people organizing a night out I might actually consider staying in town one night longer than I have to!
