I Am X
May 31 2004, 8:12 am
Hi everyone,
I've been a bit forgetful and forgot to buy new contact lense cleaner on Saturday.
Now I'm completely out.
I know this is a long shot, but is there ANYWHERE I can find it before tuesday??
Apotheke's don't sell it, so the emergency apotheke is out.
Petrol stations definately don't sell it.
Everything else is closed...
Am I completely f***ed?
Is there really nowhere that sells it on sundays/holidays in Germany?

You might want to try the little mini-shops in
Hauptbahnhof. They are your best bet. That or give your eyes a break and wear your glasses for a couple of days.

Just lick them clean.
You sure you can't get any at the Apotheke?

Call the Schönweitz Optik at the Airport (MAC) and see if they are open... the airport stores are usually open 7 days a week (though I am not sure if they are open on a holiday like today, I know that the Schönweitz is open on Sundays there).

Is there an apotheke at the airport open on Sunday/holidays though? I went to buy it at an apotheke when I first got here. the nice lady at the counter told me that while they did carry and sell it, she thought it would be cheaper at the optician. Good to know about Schönweitz. I still can't get over how expensive solution is here.

I tried to search answers on TT, but could not find any...
I have been getting my lenses solutions from Optiks (places where they sell glasses etc), because those are the only places I have seen lenses solutions on shelves and they seem to be quite expensive.
I have tried places like DM,but could not see any there...
back in Australia, I can get them at any phamacies, but I dont see them in Apothekes here either..
Can anybody tell me where people get solutions/potein remover stuff from in Munich?
Thanks in advance for any tips

go to fielmann. they usually have the least expensive and a rather good selection. apollo optik is also okay. stick to the chains. the individual opticians have the highest prices. but yes, they are more expensive (though IMHO not by much) than the u.s.
or order them online (like i do) from lenscatcher.

I went to the Apotheke on Mailingerstrasse the other day, and was suprised to find a bottle of contact solution for 5 EUR. The U.S. prices are often $7-$9, unless you buy the dodgy generic brand, which can be as low $2.

the apotheke near us do have solutions, but they are not the brand that I have been using for the last 5 years. I have been using Opti- Free express (which I have seen in optik only) so far, and I am not sure if I want try different brands.
@Elfenstar, where/waht is this Filemann you mentioned ?

Fielmann --> English Version --> Enter Site (bottom of screen) --> Store finder.
Fielmann is a chain of opticians. Cheapest glasses & contacts all around. There is one right at the NE corner of
Giselastraße U-Bahn. There's on in Talstraße next to Müller and
SFCC. Probably one in ped area too. They're everywhere. I use Opti-Free too.

I have ordered my 14-day contacts and cleaning solution online from Markenoptik de Waal for at least a couple of years now, and have no complaints:
http://www.mdw.de/Went to them originally because it's such a pain and so expensive to go to the optician's or pharmacy to get contact lens solution. They have always been very quick and accurate in filling my orders (accuracy is important with the lenses.)
They offer two 355 ml bottles of Optifree Express for 18.95.

Also look on EBay. I'm using the Renu Moisture Loc all purpose solution - it's great - better than the RENU No Rub. You can buy it in bulk on EBay and the shipping prices aren't too bad.

i just came back from my neighborhood Fielmann & came home with two bottles of OptiFree Express (355ml) + one wee travel bottle for €10,90! no, that is not a typo. old price used to be €17,90! i asked & they said the prices have gone down.

Could someone suggest the most reasonably priced places to buy contact lense solutions in Munich? i.e. Saline and multi-purpose cleaning solutions
I haven't seen any in general chemists like DM, and I would imagine that opticians are going to charge full whack.

Actually I always buy my solution at DM - you may just not have found them or they were out of stock.
Also Roßmann and Schlecker sell them too at a very reasonable price.

I had to ask the pharmacist...it was behind the counter in a drawer. < 5€ for a large bottle of all-in-one.

I know I can buy it in the pharmacy and optometrist. Penelope said she found it at DM, Rossman and Schlecker. They are typically tons cheaper.
Penelope??? Which department in these stores???
