Why? You're an experienced skiier who will actually get full use of any boots you buy. Why are such boots so bad for a beginner?

You'll be fine with those as a beginner. And having a generally more comfortable boot may just increase the chances of you actually enjoying your day out there. biggrin.gif

Exactly. You will be fine in those. If you really like it and ski a lot then you can invest in a good pair.

Rent some boots for the first few days on skis, if you get the bug for skiing go out and buy a pair of four clip boots from one of the leading brands i.e Salomon, Nordica, Technica which ever one fits you best. One of the most important things people overlook is the flex in the boot, when trying them on in the shop if you cant flex forward in them DON´T BUY THEM !. So many folks complain of sore shins and blisters after skiing this is due to the boot they were wearing was too stiff which makes your lower legs rub on the tongue of the boots. This includes many people who call themselves experts and insist on wearing World Cup race boots cause it´s echt cool !. The other major thing which is overlooked when buying boots is getting custom footbeds made for them, this is done by taking a print of your feet then having soles made so you stand in a neutral stance in your boots, great for about 80% of us who are either knock kneed or bandy !. The insoles which come with most ski boots are crap, take it from me go to the nearest ski shop and get some made, top brands are Superfeet, Conformable and Sidas, it will change your skiing for the better straight away.

I learned to ski 2 years ago with the Alpina School:

I went on a 4-Sunday course in January and liked it so much that I did it again the next year. Every Sunday was a different ski area, it was great to have variation. They train a lot of kids to ski, so they know how to "coax" the best out of you. Very affordable prices too. But watch out for Peter, he likes his schnapps smile.gif

Very pleased with their entire organization, everyone was very friendly and helpful.
