I'm looking for a nice restaurant with a private room for about 10 people. Bavarian cuisine preferred, but others acceptable. Should be a "nice" place, not a student kneipe. Thanks for your help!

Paulaner am Nockherberg (the place where they do the Stakbierfest). Took some clients to an excellent Bavarian dinner in a private room upstairs from the restaurant there. Good service, classy surroundings.

Really? The hall just seemed so cavernous and clinical. The private rooms are nicer I take it?

Unionsbräu in
Haidhausen. You can choose between different rooms.
As already said, Paulaner am Nockenberg.
Zum Brunnwart in
Schwabing is very nice and elegant, surrounded by the
Englischer Garten.

yeah, very classy. You could check out the downstairs of the restaurant first as it has pretty similar decor. BTW, perhaps there is more than one restaurant area there ... I'm talking about the end of the building nearest the city/river end of the complex (which is nothing like the hall for the
Starkbierfest)

They have a backroom at Tattenbach. Not the best food, but a great pub and when you are in the backroom there is not a problem with the smoke level!

What's that place near
Marienplatz where we had the original Singles Night that Kat set up? They have some small rooms.

Perhaps you're thinking of
Weisses Brauhaus on Tal? That'd be a good place if it's possible to reserve one of the upstairs rooms, and it's about as Bavarian as they come.

At
Muenchener Freiheit there is a restaurant that is all stairs. Seriously, the whole thing is built around a staircase. They have rooms above and below and the food is about as Bavarian as it can get. Great place, great atmosphere.

actually, just remembered, we took some clients to the
Seehaus one winter, they have a really nice restaurant inside - might be worth having look at that, it's pretty local

Bogenhauser Hof (IsmaninngStr)
St. Emmeran's Mühle (along the Isar- need a car to get to or taxi)
Fransiskaner by the Opera- has small rooms to reserve, as I believe the Spaten hause across the street does to.

Found what I was talking about. Schneider Weisse Brauhaus on Tal (between
Marienplatz and Isartor), opposite McDonald's. Reservations recommended, Thu.-Sat. nights required.

That's the place I was talking about above (see link). It's called Weisses Brauhaus, with no Scheider in the title.
The Ratskeller in the townhall have completetly separate rooms. Click on the site under "sightseeing", there's a list of all the rooms available (about 10 in total), depending on what size you're looking for:

I like going to the Löwenbräukeller at Stiegelmeier Platz, they have a semi private , open plan room above the bar where the beer is tapped, looks like a huge barrel. You can look down into and have the the public bar atmosphere but are nevertheless separated and can converse privatly, plus it's not so loud. It has the advantage that you do not have that "closed in " feeling. Try it you,ll agree.
