Anyone going out on friday will get to see something pretty funny at the stroke of midnight.

The pope or someone has apparently declared dancing and dance music immoral once midnight hits. All the music suddenly changes to some silly stuff, and everyone is ordered off the dance floors, which are sometimes even roped off.

The places try and stay open and people can still stand around and drink and talk, but most people just leave.

Does anyone know where in the bible it is mentioned that dancing in the early hours of easter saturday is immoral? Or is it just another catholic power trip?

Does anyone know when the "tanzverbot" ends? Because everything seems to be back to normal by saturday night.

The above quote comes from No disco dancing on the night of Good Friday, Easter silliness by the Catholic church.

I could be wrong, but I believe the same applies for tonight - the eve of All Saint's Day 31.Oct.2005. Bars and nightclubs require a Sondererlaubnis from the KVR if they wish to party beyond midnight. I dunno how many clubs and bars are affected. Maybe peeps can report back tomorrow?

False alarm then?

Barschwein was open beyond midnight. I dunno about anywhere else.

Maybe it's just Karfreitag when this rule applies. All other public holidays are unaffected.

I did some reading in the meantime and in bavaria its only a sperrzeit from 5 till 6am. Even though Beckstein currently has a bill to extend it to a day.

Where I went the music was cranking through the night too. Guess some places chose to follow the will of Beckstein. Looks like we just picked the right places smile.gif

EDIT: Damn cant find the right link...

The Tanzverbot is still current.

Psst!

As this article points out, anyone who wants to keep partying just has to get a special permit. They ask: does a Tanzverbot still make sense?

The Sperrzeit is valid every day. The Tanzverbot is for special holidays.
