After three and a half years wifey has finally gotten fed up with the state of the carpets in our house and I need to find a good company (preferably with English speaking staff) who can offer a thorough carpet shampooing / cleaning service.

Any one got any hints?

U can rent one of those carpet vacuum cleaners. My mom has one of those I can maybe ask her if she wants to clean your carpets. It will probably be cheaper then finding one english speeking company

You can also rent carpet cleaning machines from some dry-cleaners, it isn't that expensive nor is it difficult to use one. I'd wait for better weather though as you will need to air the area to get the carpet dry again.

Good luck

Never heard of anyone coming to clean them for you, although I'm sure they do. Lots of drycleaners rent out steam cleaners that you can then use yourself.

try the local dry cleaners
mine certainly hires them out, don't know if they all do

OK, so it seems Mr.Lodge will do carpet cleaning for 3 - 5 Euros per sq m. This seems a bit expensive, no? But so far, no recommendations for an alternative sad.gif

i rented a steam cleaner from OBI. had to buy the solution for €8 or so. cost me a few €'s to rent for a day (maybe €15-20?) and you pay a deposit of €80 or so, but get it back.
the thing was incredibly bulky and it was a bitch to clean out at the end. either i didn't know what i was doing, or my upholstery wasn't as dirty as I thought.

p.s. mick, it would be nice if you tell us how much you paid!

Need to clean my carpets too and have heard the OBI machines work just fine and that you do not have to use their shampoo but any carpet shampoo is fine.

Müller Drogerie on the corner of Schleissheimer and Herzog has the machines to let. My husband got one a few yrs. ago. Machine was free, you just buy the cleaning solution.

I think it would be excellent to submit one bottle of cleaning solution to your landlord. That's what we paid to do ours. biggrin.gif

thanks for the tip. i just called and they cost €12 per day and you are right, you can use any carpet shampoo (for cleaning machines). You need to take along your ID and pay a deposit (I think he say €80).

Can anyone suggest a company which cleans carpets - shampooing etc.? I need to have someone come to wash the carpets before I hand it over back to the landlord.
Thank you for any suggestions or help.

I just had very, very bad experience this morning with a carpet cleaning company I got from the internet. They left without cleaning and were upset about parking. It was terrible! I did not know that Huntcrest do cleaning as well or else I would have contacted them. Thanks :-)

They'll do pretty much anything domestic I reckon.

In fact, only last week I had them around to fix me a Banoffee Pie. Top notch it was too.
