Formerly known as Mövenpick

Anyone remember the name of the restaurant that's in the Künstlerhaus at Lenbachplatz? It used to be Mövenpick, but it's now something else. And has anyone been there?

I can't remember the name, but they have the most amazing lamb... Mid-to-upper teens for entrees...

No, nor can I find up to date info in Google. The address though is Lenbachplatz 8.

Okay, I found the name of the restaurant. It's Lutter & Wegner. Not much online about them so far.

I'm just pissed that they closed the Mövenpick down there...Scheisse. Bunch of bastards...

Some friends and I arranged to meet there for lunch a few weeks ago. We didn't realize there had been a change; Moevenpick had a great Tandoori Chicken Salad we used to all order.

Anyway, we were REALLY disappointed, especially by the prices. I guess it was just a day or two after the switch had been made, but we had to ask if they had a "business lunch" special, which they did, but it was 2 or 3 courses plus a glass of wine, which nobody wanted midday, and cost maybe 15 euro. I think my main dish was some kind of fish, and was really small. The prices for entrees on the normal menu they originally gave us were all in the upper teens.

Maybe it's ok for a nice, work-sponsored lunch or dinner, but it wasn't what we were looking for.

Had our Christmas Work Dinner there last night. Nice place. Food was top notch, wine was free flowing and the service was on the ball. The main dining area is non-smoking. Nipped around to the bar area a few times for a rauch. Bar staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable on their spirits. Spotted a bottle of Absolut Peppar on the shelf which I've not had before but passed on it in favour of a rather splendid Appleton Estate. Mmmm, rum.

Was there last night for a business dinner, good food and excl. wine! But not a place I would go just to have a socialble drink.

I'm guessing we weren't at the same do.

Doubt it, otherwise I would not have remembered leaving.

(Christoph) Lutter and (August) Wegner began as wine and sekt dealers in 1811 in Berlin. The company they founded developed into an up-market restaurant chain to supplement their wine offerings following the war. They have 5 locations in Berlin and seem to now be spreading further afield. I've regularly visited their location in Bellvuestr in Berlin off Potsdamer Platz opposite the Berlin Ritz and find it friendly and inviting, albeit upmarket, somewhat expensive and clearly more wine- than beer (my preference) orientated.
